No kidding. This card was pretty shitty to be honest with no top fighters fighting(Belford is the only dude on the card who could be called top5 out of all fights ). Not to mention there was no title up for grabs. Listen I love boxing. They have to step up with making their boxers box the fights people are actually excited about. Believe me if you asked fans who would you like Mayweather to fight when he came out of retirement, very seldom would Marques's name come up.
Damm right the UFC may be shown more in bars as you gotta be drunk to watch their PPV's and think you got a good deal. I would be pissed at payin to watch guys falling over after minimal contact during the first flurry thrown. Rich Franklin went down faster than JENNA JAMESON!!
I wouldn't be surprised if more people pay $50 to watch Pacquiao-Cotto than people will watch UFC 104 for free.

The UFC put 3 of their top stars on a ppv card on the same night and got 1.6 mil buys. Boxing put 2 of their top stars on the same card and got 2.4 mil buys. Nuff said.
Before last weekend. Dana White: Once the numbers came out: UFC Lost. Simple as that. I find it funny how UFC fans now try and claim boxing had its biggest star up against an average UFC card. Before last weekend PBF wasnt a star according to UFC fans and wouldnt draw a dime. Oh and while you talk about an averge UFC card please tell me who UFC have on there cards who can draw 1 mil buys?
well if you had 20,00 bars with 100 people each watching the ufc that's 2,000,000 people. you have to factor this in in the debate. truth is no one can say who watched more of what last weekend. but i wouldn't be surprised if more people actually watched the UFC.
I highly doubt many UFC fans felt the Mayweather PPV was going to totally tank. But obviously very few felt that it would do as well as it did. Dana White certainly didn't as he had to know that his event wouldn't come close to a million buys. He talked trash based on the hunch that Mayweather isn't a great draw unless he's up against a superstar like De La Hoya. He was wrong and he admitted it. Well, Lesnar/Mir did well over 1 million buys. Like boxing, if you put your biggest stars up against each other the potential for 1 mill plus buys is there. It's happened 4 other times in UFC history and it'll almost certainly happen again.
Good point. I was very surprised when I checked the canadastar boxing site before last weekend and noticed the unbelievably lopsided number of bars showing the UFC as opposed to the PBF fight. It would interesting to see similar type of numbers for the US. Of course, how many people bought the Mayweather PPV because there wasn't a bar in their area showing it? These are the kind of things that we can't really know, so it's hard to factor them into the final numbers. The bottom line is that both sports are popular, and contrary to the proclamations of some, boxing is alive and well. If you put two fighters in the ring that people want to see fight, then people will buy it. This goes for either sport.
Boxings star fought a Mexican featherweight who moved up 2 weight classes and what many considered an easy fight for Floyd which it was. Not to mention, it was essentially a tune-up fight. Whats also hilarious is Arum and Schaefer called out Dana about fabricating his PPV buys. And Dana had no response, he just got owned hard. They say UFC 100 did around 1m not 1.6m which Dana suggested earlier. If this is true, which wouldnt be surprising that means this JMM/Mayweather tune-up fight did as many buys as the biggest card in UFC history.
