    Per Steve Kim...

    Diaz-Malignaggi II Dec 12th?...

"There is a possibility Im told and it could take place in New York on HBO's Boxing After Dark

If this were to happen, Victor Ortiz would open up that telecast. And the fight between Robert Guerrero and maybe Rocky Martinez, would be moved off. Richard Schaefer told me they would try to move it to the Jan 30th show when/if Shane Mosley faces Andre Berto"

    per Dan Rafael:

There's been a lot of talk about a rematch between Juan Diaz and Paulie Malignaggi after the hometown decision Diaz got in Houston when they met Aug. 22. HBO, which did the fight, was interested enough in the rematch of the excellent fight that the network met with Malignaggi and promoter Lou DiBella a few weeks ago and told them to their face it wanted to do it again. But there's a difference between genuinely wanting to do a rematch and lip service. How else to explain HBO's offer this week of only $750,000 for a Dec. 12 card? That's the same amount HBO paid last time even though the rematch is much bigger after all the publicity the first fight received. And instead of a co-promotion between Golden Boy and DiBella, it would be solely a Golden Boy-promoted card as part of its output deal with the network or a makeup call to Golden Boy for handling potential Mosley and Hopkins dates like hand grenades. Under the terms offered, don't count on a rematch.

The latest from from The Scene....

    --------------

______.com was advised that a rematch between former champions Paulie Malignaggi and Juan Diaz is back on track. Golden Boy Promotions and Lou DiBella want to place the fight on the HBO date of December 12. The fight appeared to be dead when HBO offered $750,000 for the entire doubleheader that was planned for the December date. The network has since come back and offered $750K for the main event.

Another sticking point was the co-promotion of the event. When reached for verification early this morning, Malignaggi's promoter DiBella confirmed that deal has been reached with Golden Boy CEO Richard Shaefer to co-promote the card. Nothing is done until the fighters actually sign the contracts.

Diaz won a controversial twelve round decision over Malignaggi in August. The first fight took place in Diaz's hometown of Houston, Texas. The rematch won't take place in Texas and it won't take place in New York. Atlantic City is very high on the list. As previously reported, Golden Boy had planned to showcase Victor Ortiz and Robert Guerrero on that date in a doubleheader. Ortiz will probably still appear on the show in the co-feature slot. As for Guerrero, he will get shipped to another HBO date.

    Steve Kim...

    ------------

    "No-Go for Diaz-Malignaggi II on Dec 12th...

$$$, or the lack of it, was the deciding factor. Simply too many hands in the cookie-jar to satisfy both sides from what Im told

Now, Robert Guerrero-Rocky Martinez is the focus of this Boxing After Dark telecast"

    ------------

Too bad about Diaz-Malignaggi II, but Guerrero-Martinez is a damn good fight.

I really don't need to see Diaz vs. Malignaggi again. This is the rematch HBO pushed for?? What about Berto vs. Collazo for one?? Oh right... I forgot. HBO knows houseboy Berto can't win that fight..

You're such an angry young man. I, for one, would love to see this fight, and I'm sure there's others who would too. It's not all about knocking people spark out in four rounds.
