I was very impressed with the heart and punch resistance he displayed in a lopsided defeat to Vitali Klitschko this evening. Henry Ramirez was a little bewildering in the corner however, "Just keep doing what you're doing". I know he probably meant in regards to the pressure that was being applied, but perhaps Cris would benefit with a more proven trainer.

What are people's thoughts on this?

I agree with Vitali, Arreola will be become a world champion after Klitchkos retire.

That was a great bit of class shown by Vitali after the fight. His style isn't my cup of tea, but you simply cannot dislike the man.

Cris needs to get with a trainer who will demand more from him. He needs someone like Freddie Roach, he needs to get down to a slimmer 230lbs. He needs better corner advice too. Just my thoughts.

I think chris showed alot of heart and he never quit! I think henry ramirez and the ref should of let chris finish! It would of been a positive thing for him... Although chris lost to the great Vitali klitschko he still could comeback and be better, lets face it the klits are the cream of the crop!! They have been dominating for a long time... chris could still comeback and compete with other opponents

Arreola would knock Chambers out. Vlad will knock Chambers out soon. Then Arreola can knock him out afterwards.

Good points. I think Arreola will learn from this loss and I think it will tremendously motivate him. However, I do think he needs a new trainer, some of the advice Ramirez gave were a bit "eccentric"; maybe he (Ramirez) is not pushing Arreola hard enough, which means that like anything in life loyalty can only take you so far.

We saw the best of Arreola tonight. He is not good enough to go much farther.

    Exactly.

The trainer should be the authority and should be demanding that his guy at least comes in at 235lbs. I think his handspeed would improve as a result. Bring in a Roach or Nacho and they'd help tremendously I feel. I'm not one quick to point the finger at the trainer, I think Arreola was just outclassed, but the advice between rounds was a little strange. "Just keep doing what you're doing". It should have been more like, "More head movement, multiple jabs to get inside, and then throw the right hand over the top".

Uncommitted, untrained, average, club fighter, no head movement, stationary target, poor footwork, B or C level fighter...these are labels and things used to describe Chris Arreola before the Klitschko fight by boxing fans.

Tonight Vitali showed everyone that they where right to use those labels and discuss those topics when talking of Chris. It was my opinion long before this fight that Chris was an average club and crude slugger with almost no defense and that he had been overprotected, over-hyped, and carefully matched by his people. After the fight ended tonight my opinion hasn't changed at but was reaffirmed though I'm surprised at just how many people still believe Chris is a championship caliber fighter.

Look I'll give Chris huge credit for this effort, his chin, and his heart tonight but that's all the guy has. He didn't lose tonight because of inexperience, weight, etc. He lost because he was severly outclassed and finally exposed for what he really is. I think Chris has a great and refreshing personality and I really enjoy his candor and relentless attitude but the guy is anything but a world class boxer.

How many Arreola fans are still going to insist that you can win at the elite level while still overeating, partying, and drinking? If one doesn't take their job seriously enough they will rarely succeed as was evidenced tonight. Jim Lampley said it best when he made his little speech at the end of the broadcast about how you can't expect to beat a Klitschko when you miss training, go out to party, etc.

I do happen to like Chris quite a bit but he's nowhere near the level everyone apparently still believes he is. I for one don't think he'll come back at all, though if he does it'll be more of the same and I don't think we'll see him challenging a champion again for a long time if at all. His tears tonight where brought on by the shame of being exposed and not taking training as seriously as he should. At least that's what it felt like to me.

He needs to get his ass in the gym and actually train in between fights for a change. It might improve his skills and it will definitely slim his overweight ass down.

It depends on how motivated he is. He's a very limited fighter. He doesn't move his head, doesn't use his jab, and he always comes straight forward. His strengths are good power and combination punching. The worst is that he isn't committed to serious training. Someone in the biggest fight of their life who actually cared would train a lot more.

I think he'll stay a serious contender for the next few years, but he wont get a belt because his lack of commitment will still be there.
