Why Would Anyone think Chris Areola could defeat a LEGIT Heavyweight???

Though I happen to like Chris' "go get em" attitude and his pressure fighting style, I've always viewed him as a product of HBO and wishful thinking. I've also thought that Chris would do well in Tough Man contests, much better than he would as a pro boxer. Chris has faced off against carefully picked opposition for the majority of his career, has limited boxing ability, poor footwork, almost no head movement, poor reflexes, and terrible defense. While I find him exciting to watch, with the exception of Vitali he's fought no one of consequence, no true master of the sport.

I expected Chris to receive a bad beating tonight though I thought it would end much earlier. I wish Chris the best but I for one hope this lose kills the HBO/Arreola hype machine. I know the network feels desperate for an American champion but most people could look at Chris and tell you right away he's not a world class contender let alone of a championship caliber. It's incredibly irritating to watch a network pump someone with limited skills and little dedication to his craft. I believe he'll slowly fade away and end up a gatekeeper or journeyman before he retires.

I'll give Arreola a great chance to beat Valuev and Peter but thats about it.

He tried to apply pressure the whole fight and He took Vks best punches! Chris could improve and lose some weight then come back and win a title.... PS: I dont remember chazz being out of shape! He was in better shape then arreola... Chris just beat him!!

 

Arreola vs Peter is easily an even fight in which is hard to pick a winner cause their style is very likely the same and since both nickname (nightmare) it would be a great promotion for this fight. But i don't think Arreola can beat Chambers. Chambers is too fast and too skilled for 1 dimensional Arreola.

 

The truth is that theres a huge gap between the Klitschkos and the rest of the division. Arreola can beat a lot of heavyweights in the current division, but at the moment he isnt fit enough to hang with the Klitschkos.

I still give him a punchers chance against Wladimir but only if he can get into decent shape and fight for 12 rounds. He also needs to tighten that leaky defence otherwise Wlad will have coloured his face red by the 3rd.

 

He got away with putting both hands down, so didn't have to waste energy holding them up.
Tonight he uses his legs as a weapon.

I think he will compete very easily with the non-Kilitschko's of the HW division. He's big, has alot of heart, a great chin and can box.
