Valuev is regarded as the #3 Heavyweight in the world and Vitali hasn't fought anyone that has anything near the resume or accomplishments of Valuev since coming out of retirement. Valuev, if anything, has fought and beaten great competition at Heavyweight. therefore, David Haye will be the #2 Heavyweight in the world if he beats Valuev. Do you agree?

Interesting point. Beating Valuev would be better than any single accomplishment of Vitali's. I'm pretty sure if someone beats Wlad, they get to be put in the number one spot automatically. So it's sort of the same concept. I don't know the answer.

Vitali has beaten bums since he's come out of retirement. Valuev has wins over Ruiz, McCline, Sergei Lyachovik, and many other decent names. If Haye beats him, that will by far be greater than anything Vitali has done since coming out of retirement.

I for one, do not consider Nikolay Valuev to be a top 5 man anymore. He hasn't scored a decisive win nor even a knockout in years, and arguably should have lost both of his last two fights against thoroughly diminished versions of Holyfield and Ruiz. Additionally, by the time he faces Haye in November, he'll be 36 years old and nearly a year removed from his last match...

If Haye's fight with Valuev is going to make any sort of impact whatsoever, then he's going to have to win in extreme fashion. Taking a split or majority decision isn't going to cut it, as there have been a few fighters who arguably did the same, and of course Chagaev who DID do the same.

I also disagree that a victory over Nikolay should boost Haye ahead of Vitali in the rankings. Klitschko has convincingly managed to stop three top raters, including a titlist and an undefeated prospect in their primes. Haye hasn't done dick since ascending to the heavyweight ranks, except beat an old journeyman. The Valuev fight would be a decent win, but not nearly enough to eclipse anything that Vitali has done since his return to the ring.........

People who think it was cowardice to not sign an insane contract are just haters. Haye will beat Valuev, then he'll be on better footing to negociate with a Klitschko. Whichever one he ends up facing will get beat.

No. It would be a good win should he KO Valuev, but his value isn't in-depth enough to jump ahead of either Klitschko.

But none of them had resumes like Valuev. Gomez beat no one. Arreola beat no one. Samuel Peter had some decent wins, but none of these opponents compared to Valuev in terms of resume and accomplishments. Valuev is far more proven and accomplished that any of Vitali's opponents post retirement.
