Nobody can predict the future. However, considering that Pac is the favorite, that means that betting public believes that Pac is going to win. They could be right, they could be wrong. However, Cotto would've been a big favorite before the Margo fight, and now he's the underdog. This let's me know that people have lost faith in him. As far as Hopkins goes, he seems to always fight big named fighters right after an unimpressive performance. That's one reason why he has been such a big underdog in numerous fights over the past decade. Maybe this is the case with Cotto, I can't tell you for sure. Only time will tell.
Cotto CLEARLY outpointed Mosley 7 - 5, and yet most people wouldnt pick him to beat Mosley again now? Clottey was a masterclass in overcoming adversity, v good opponent, horrendous cut and tumultuos camp but he got the W. Does anyone think that Manny Pacquiao would beat Joshua Clottey? Cotto's been fighting guys who are bigger than him for a while now, and i believe that people have forgotten how great he looks against guys he can physically handle.
I think Cotto is rated perfectly at the place he should be: somewhere around Mosley and Margarito, ... something like a tune up for #1 p4p's (no matter if that is PAC or Floyd). Other way, good champion but not world beater at p4p level.
Go back and watch that Cotto/Margo fight again. If he was destroying Margo, then how come Margo kept coming foward and landing hard shots on Cotto? Also, look at the scorecards at the time of the stoppage. Two judges had Margo up 2 points, one had it tied. If Cotto was truly destroying Margo for 6 rounds, then he would've won at least 6 rounds and been up 2 points going into the 11th. However, he was down on 2 cards and tied on a third. Emmanuel Steward also remarked early in the fight that if the fight continued on its current path, that Cotto was going to be in trouble. Mosley remarked after the fight that the writing was on the wall after the second round. Even if you believe that I'm completely biased and dislike Cotto, do you believe the same about all 3 judges, Steward, and Mosley? Because all of them saw the fight pretty much the same way I did(so did Lederman for that matter).
he is getting a bit underrated but you can't really blame them. He is facing against someone who's been defying all odds lately, when was the last time cotto has actually done this? cotto is a great boxer but the public's perception right now is pac being unstoppable and inhuman, i'd like to think of it as a wwe syndrome. you can call it hype if you want, but this dude has been backing it up every single time and honestly, this is the one time i think that a fighter being caught up in his own hype is actually beneficial for him.
It's useless for me to argue about the Mosley fight. I did not see Cotto win 7 rounds clearly. Neither one of us is going to change the other's opinion. I also believe that you're drastically overrating his perfomance against Clottey. In the end, it doesn't matter. Nov. 14th will be the first time that Cotto will be an underdog, and he'll have a chance to prove his doubters wrong.
he only has 34 fights. Hatton has more fights, Pacman does, Paul Williams does too i believe. Juan Diaz does. Cotto has done alot, and has never dodged or ducked and opponent.
WHAT?????...let me get this right you have more respect for Juan "no balls" Diaz than Miguel "big cojones" Cotto? :huh:huh
Cotto is no Floyd. He makes it a fight and is willing to take some shots to give out his own. He is one of the most fan friendly fighters currently in the game. A true warrior who faces the best. Come November he will add another great fighter to his resume. At only 28 that is very impressive, win or lose. :thumbsup
