If Pacquaio knocks out Cotto where would his legacy be ranked? I mean even if he retired right after that?
Very highly. He should probably be credited as the fighter of the decade, and would crash a lot of people's top 40 P4P lists. It's all subjective anyway, but let's just say knocking out Cotto does a lot of significant things for the Filipino's legacy.
I would defiantly put him at the top five for the best of the past 25 years. Depending on the quality of his win he might even reach the top spot considering his beginnings and the amount of shock he has given me.
I'm not sure about the legacy but one thing i'm sure is that haters will say.. COTTO IS OVERRATED! COTTO IS NOT THE SAME COTTO AFTER MARGO BEAT HIM :rofl:rofl
People are wrong about Cotto. That is still the same Cotto that gets on the backfoot at the end of every fight. He did it against Mosley as well. The thing is people's memory of Cotto is not a pre-Margarito Cotto, it is a Cotto at the junior welterweight division. He is not shot, he is just fighting at a higher level of competition, that's all.
He may already crash the top 5. I only definately put Pernell Whitaker, Bernard Hopkins, Julio Cesar Chavez, and Roy Jones Jr. above him at this point in time. No question, Miguel Cotto would be greatest win if he was to pull it out. That's what is great about Pacquiao, he constantly has the desire to challenge himself. I wish others would follow suit.
It will be the best win of his career, but unless he beats mayweather I can't give him the best fighter of this era. The winner of the mayweather and pacquiao fight will earn their way on the list. :bbb
True, but let's be realistic. This fight might very well never get made. I don't want to blame either party but negotiations for this fight are gonna be a *****. So let's assume it falls through. Humungous fights have fallen through over this reason in the past, DLH/Trinidad 2 would have been the biggest monster fight in history but for these reasons the biggest fight in history (back then) was never made.
If he were to KO Cotto or win in a dominating fashion I would rate him as one of the top 3 fighters of the last 25 years.. Top 35-30 PfP all time for sure, If he was to also beat Mayweather, It would be hard to NOT to rank him in the top 15 of all time. And I don't care what those nostalgic morons say, he would deserve it.
I agree, but I don't see Manny ever beating a Floyd. It's not even because I believe Floyd is a better fighter, which I do believe, but stylistically it's a nightmare for Manny.
To beat Floyd imo you need 1) greater speed, 2) to attack at angles, 3) unrelenting pressure from the 1st round to the last, that is to fold him up in a defensive posture, use his defensive skills against him. Pac has these qualities. Pac's biggest weakness would be dealing with Floyd's laser-like accurate right hand. However Floyd's biggest weakness would be Pac's offensive angles and quicker footwork. Pac is unorthodox. Great orthodox fighters always have a big weakness when they can't predict what is coming.
Manny Pacquiao is vunerable to a good straight right hand. Mayweather has the best one in the business, and he's every bit as fast as Manny in terms of reflexes and handspeed. Floyd can seriously hurt opponents when he's countering with them walking into the shot. That would happen frequently here, and although cast iron in Castillo can take that, and a 160lbs+ Oscar (who was shaken up badly by one in particular), can a Manny Pacquiao take it? Even if he does, I still feel he'll get hit more often than he lands. I think it'd either end in late TKO, or it'd be a lopsided victory in favor of Floyd, just as it was in his last outting. Floyd is a faster, bigger, and better version of Marquez - and we saw Marquez give Pacquiao fits over 24 rounds. That's one of the reasons why I think Floyd would do a demolition job over Manny, a fighter who hasn't fought and beat one legitimate Welterweight. Oscar, if you want to include him, be my guest.
I respect your views. No problem. You are not a hater. There's only one thing I'll say.. PAC defy's logic. If he wins over PBF. His magic continuous!
