the eye waz brutal and that is a fact as we all can clearly witness time and time again

no doubt lewis waz tired however he waz not gasping or more tired then he has been in numerous boutz previous to that match

the final round of the fight showz me that lewis waz timing vitali a little bit better then the previous roundz and waz starting to land shotz on vitali that were much more solid then the earlyier roundz

when vitali comez out to face lewis in the next round had they allowed it to continue vitali would have been severely vision limited witch have you not extensively trained to fight with one eye impaired before in sparring, well one can find it extremely difficult to guage depth perception and movement as accurately as the advantage one getz from having two slightly different points of perception

thus i feel it quite fair to say lewis would have had a very good chance of punching vitaliz head right off before the final bell

why do i feel this way farmboxer and otherz may ask ???

yes itz because of the truth that lewis nearly punched vitaliz face off before they stoped the fight

i mean watch the fight lewis in that last round starts to connect with huge shotz on vitali

fine vitali gave lewis a great fight in that round and of course in all the previous roundz however that doesnt change the truth that lewis startz to connect with some HUGH shotz on vitali in that last round

shotz that were so HUGE they ended up stopping the fight inbetween the round as the ref etc felt that the cut waz so HUGE it waz a danger for vitali to continue to fight on

and i dont care how tired people say lewis looked at the end of that round, watch vitali go back to his corner gentlemen, hez not exactly looking like he is nimble and fresh

more like he is thinking, "holy ****ing shyte i just got my face punched right off in that round what ****ing round is it and where is my stool?"

Klit was winning but his eye was ****ed...... Klit could've hung another round or two after the 6th stanza, but his cutman would've been busy as hell.... Lennox Lewis looked tired and gasping for air by round 5, so his conditioning was in question at 256 pounds... But while I think V.K. was in better overall physical shape between the two, I kinda' sensed Lewis was gonna get that TKO win anyway cuz of the cuts on Klit's face.... Had Klit not been cut early on in the epic fight, I think Klit would've beaten Lewis on points or possible late round stoppage...... Lewis really didn't beat-up Klit in 2003, he just cut him up bad enough to force the stoppage........ Klit was winning by 4 to 2 after 6 rds on my card and was looking good, except for the cut and blood.... Lewis got lucky.....

Lewis should have rematched Vitali to clear up the situation before he retired imo.

 

Gotta give Lewis the benefit of the doubt here. Kilt was busier but Lewis was definitely throwing the harder cleaner punches. Lewis by KO. Even as it was, I don't see any problem with the stoppage since Kilt was bleeding like hell and it muct have interfered badly with his vision.

 

It would have been stopped for the cuts. The stoppage was a good one anyway. If the cuts magically vanished, then I can see Vitali winning on points.

 

When will this topic end? The fight happened like 10years ago and people still talk about it on a daily basis

Lewis by tko. Vitali was almost out in the sixth, you only have to watch him take an age to get to his corner to see that he was hurt. At the end of the day he wasn't going to last much longer with that eye, when you with two big gashes on his eyelid that were almost joined up I really think it's absurd that people question the stoppage. Basically if either of those cuts were worsened even a little bit, Vitali would have had a loose flap of skin where his eyelid used to be.
Lewis landed the harder punches in the fight, did more damage, both were wobbled at different stages but at the end it was Lewis who was on top.

 

The same fight?! It was stopped because Vitali's face was so f*cked up by legal punches that the ringside officials and we weren't sure if he can come out without permanent damage. It was a legit TKO. What if THAT fight continued?

Lewis got into the rhythm by the 3rd round and landed huge punches in the last 2 while Vitali, out of breath and with a bad vision, barely landed anything anymore. Lewis would've knocked him out or forced a referee stoppage as Vitali couldn't see anything coming.

I love Vitali, but if that fight continued, his career would have ended there and we'd have a different conversation: "Do you think Vitali would've been a force if the stupid referee stopped the brutal beating?"

He had no chance of winning past the 4th round, no matter what the fanboys say.
