Its like they make these lists just to get people riled up and talking about them.

 

Inactivity on Haye's part ? Khan beat a (faded) legend and a world titleholder in his last two fights, both this year. Haye has only fought twice in two years, one against a gatekeeper in Barrett and one against Enzo who got sparked by a pair of inexperienced up and comers in his last two fights.

 

The list is okay except for the error you mention, Khan should be fourth really. Just because Hatton lost to Pacquiao it doesn't mean that Khan overtakes him simply because he beat Kotelnik, it ain't that easy.

The rest is pretty fair except I think Kevin Mitchell is getting far too much credit for doing not a lot, whereas Moore and Macklin are European champs that have beat fringe world class opponents, Kevin Mitchell has not fought in that company.

Nicky Cook is weak, I wouldn't have him on my list, but I suppose if you are going by the book he was recently a world champ.

 

Certainly Kahn should probably be 4th. I'd make the case for Hatton and Haye being ahead.

Other than that there is a bit of debate with the lower down ones, but it's harder to tell.

Guys like Moore, Macklin, Brook, Murray, Cleverly, etc, etc could all be in with a shout of being in the top 10. Even guys like Witter could be considered there or there abouts.

Swap Froch and Haye around, and I don't think you could really argue with the top 4 (bar the ordering). I think you've a lot of guys there after who are very hard to rank.

I would rate Haye higher
his embarassing KO is further behind him
his cruiser run on somewhat of a higher level than khan's pre Prescott run
however Haye hasn't done much since moving up for his second stint at heavy vs Khan who has I think had a nice win vs Kotelnik that is worth something, the Barrera win I don't put as much stock in but its still worth something as well

I think Haye loses to Valuev

Mitchell hasn't beaten an opponent with a pulse for over 18 months - and shouldn't be in the top 5.

Moore and Macklin have both beaten fringe world class guys and looked great in doing so...... Munroe has two wins over Kiko Martinez, but not a great deal else worthy of note.
