They're not going to get high ratings continuing to show championship bouts only on HBO or Showtime. With heavy advertising they could televise boxing back on TNT and CBS sports. Boxing was very popular back in the 80's, 70's and 60's because you could watch boxing for free.
Yea I don't get why HBO doesn't have Boxing on TNT or Showtime having CBS show Boxing. They see that week in and week out that Boxing gets high ratings on HBO, Showtime, and ESPN. Why not expand and show it on free TV?
Sure they have high ratings, but the general American public don't like paying for a premium channel like HBO or showtime, that's common sense. I bet you if the networks like TNT and CBS televised boxing a long time ago the ratings would much higher because it would be free. I don't have HBO or Showtime and I don't like watching HBO boxing on an internet stream. This is why boxing is losing popularity because of the high corruption going on between the networks, sanctioning bodies, and the promoters. It's preventing fights from happening. Who's getting rich off of this? The promoters like Gary Shaw, Dan Goosen, Bob Arum, and Oscar De La Hoya, they're making millions of dollars, while a boxers salary is getting lower.
Yea, well, hopefully Richard Schaefer can actually put Boxing back on basic cable. He has stated that within 12 months Boxing will be back on basic cable. We shall hope and see if that actually does happen.
do you guys every stop crying about why boxing is not on free to air tv, get over it, get hbo and showtime, look this is fighting, the hurting business, it is the wild wild west of sports, fighters go to money, like flies to ****, there could be ****ed for life after a fight. this is the way it is and it is not going to change, maybe you mite get boxing on TNT, but it will not be top the tree fighting, I put million dollars on it, It will be small money cards like ESPN or fox sport net, the spanish networks will get back into boxing soon. There will be no million dollar type of fights on Free to Air of basic cable ever again, no chance
