Matthew Macklin vs Dmitry Pirog in the works!

Macklin is on a roll,don't see Pirog making it to the 2nd half of the fight.

 

Same. I see Macklin knocking him out.

 

Does anyone know anything about Dmitry Pirog? I've never heard of the guy.

 

He's a power puncher(14with 11 KO's and no losses) that's making his way up the rankings fighting mostly Eastern Europeans.

EDIT: LOL, I was looking at boxrec and Macklin is 6th!

 

Not suprising...I mean it is the middle wieght division.

 

I wouldn't call him that to be honest. He is more of a combination puncher with decent power.

 

All though he does have good power, Pirog is more of a boxer than a puncher. Good punch variation and switch's from head to body pretty well with good combination's . I believe he's also a pretty good thinker in that he doesn't waste or throw to many silly shots. He's got good stamina too.

Tough fight for Macklin.

 

Did not see much of either fighter but I think Pirog will beat him... He will not beat Pavlik ever but I think he can become number 3/4 in the division..

Tough fight for Macklin. Pirog is a good stand up boxer with nice punch variety and combinations, decent power and he switches up from body-to-head nicely. But I think Macklin can beat him primarily because I think he's quicker. And also Pirog leaves himself a bit open defensively at times when he will occasionally drop his hands when he mixes them up, to both the right hand left hook, and Macklin has both punches in his arsenal and great power.

 

pavlik is garbage

hopkins showed everyone that , pavlik is just lucky the division is so weak

macklin would beat pavlik imo

 

Pavlik isn't garbage. You're acting like Hopkins isn't an ATG elite fighter and that he didn't have the perfect style to beat him. Macklin is a long way off beating Pavlik at the moment.

 

Pirog is highly underrated, he has some serious boxing skills combined with good power and a lot of flashy offensive and defensive stuff. This could be his big breakthrough, a knockout would certainly put him in a prime position for a MW title with just 14 fights.
