Just paw at him with the jab, lean on him and hold if he gets close, stall a bit, paw, jab AND the occasional right hand or big uppercut. And Bowe's there to be hit with jabs, even in '92 form. I can imagine Lewis hitting Bowe a bit more than getting hit, perhaps.

I dont know. I dont think Lewis was a truly great fighter but he was massive and a decent ring general so maybe he beats Bowe ?
(The more I think about it the more I doubt)

Lewis is no more massive than Riddick Bowe, maybe a half a inch taller. Lewis physically weak which is why Holyfield moved him around in their fights. Did Holyfield move Bowe? Nope because not only is Bowe a harder puncher than Lewis he is also stronger and has a better chin. Unforgiven what did Lewis do against Mercer who doesnt have anything Bowe had. Lewis struggled, Mercer got hit alot and Mercer was dropped by Holyfield, something Bowe didnt do until he was pretty much done as a top level fighter ( From all of the gaining weight and then losing it really quick)

One more thing how is it ok for Tyson to avoid fighting a fat Foreman, Holyfield and Foreman didnt fight Rudduck even they both would of stopped him, Foreman didnt fight Tony Tucker, Lewis didnt fight Ruiz. But since Bowe didnt fight Lewis then he must be afraid of him, Lewis wasnt a money fight. Nobody in america game a damn about Lewis at the time, which is why Bowe didn't fight him. No boxer fights everbody but some boxers are excuse for doing it and others are killed for doing it.

Lewis was not an on his toes type of boxer. He would also engage a fighter with Bowe's offensive style. Bowe just about drug everyone into a physical fight. It was slick guys that moved well and boxed in angles that gave him some trouble. Even Larry Donald who had little power but a lot of mobility was able to make it the full distance against Bowe and the light hitting Mathis had Bowe a little confused in spurts. Emanuel Steward had Holyfield boxing more in angles and on his toes in the second fight and that fight was still very close.
When you look at the two styles, theres nothing that says Lewis would be able to box comfortabley from the outside for 12 rounds. Bowe was too big, too strong, and never would sit back, he would be pressing the fight, just as Mercer, Briggs and Mcall did. Thats where the intangibles take over, and why I see Bowe beating him, because on the inside and in a brawl, Bowe was a very tricky fighter who could throw short effective hooks and uppercuts on the inside, something you never saw from a man his size, and I just cant see Lewis physically manhandeling Bowe like he was able to do against the less experienced fighters like Grant and Briggs, who were never established infighters.

Yeah, you're both probably right. Bowe in 1992 - '93 was probably capable of beating any version of Lewis. But he would have been hit a bit.

The later version of Bowe, '95 - '96 was just far too easy to hit though, and losing strength and power in his punches. I think Lewis would have taken him then.

That version of Bowe was like watching Roy Jones fight Glen Johnson.

Bowe is there to be hit like most of us agree which is why I doubt he could beat somebody like a prime or even a fat Foreman. But against somebody with as weak as a chin as Lewis had I think he would of caught him eventually and stopped him. Lewis never got off he canvas to win a fight and if Bowe dropped him he wouldnt get up to this this fight either.

For most of you who have only seen three Bowe fights, heres a nice one of an up and coming Bowe showcasing his excellent jab and infighting skills. Undercard of Tyson Ruddock.

He looks good against a punch bag, he still has a low guard that says 'please come over the top with a big right hand or jab me in the face all night'. His head movement is very good as is his footwork but against a rangy fighter with fast hands hes getting hit and can see Lennox landing his best right time and again and taking him out early. Maybe he could beat Vitali because Vitali wasnt a big hitter but no ones beating Lennox with a defense that open

Hatton was a better in fighter than Manny Pacquaio, Duran a better in fighter than Hearns. It won't mean anything in this fight

Bottom line, he just doesnt have the defense

And Lewis held his hands high? I dont see Bowe holding his guard down especially when he gets close. It doesnt matter where your hands are when your out of range.

If you watch Lewis and Bowe confront eachother after after the Bowe Vs Holyfield fight, you can see Bowe knows he's going to lose. Bowe is actually afraid of Lennox and that always surprised me.

As someone said a few pages back, Bowe may have had the talent to beat Lewis, but he never had the heart.

    Lewis UD 8-4/9-3.

Bowe didn't have the heart? Have you seen a washed up Bowe get beat down by Golota? Sure Golota isn't nearly as good as Lennox Lewis but Golota has some skills and beat Bowe down and he kept trying even though Bowe was done as a top fighter at that time. Bowe has tons of heart, if anything Lewis had no heart or balls. As I said when ever he got knocked down he stayed down. Never had the balls or heart to get up and keep fighting.

I didnt see fear in Bowe, he was the one who was up in Lewis face telling him to try and knock him out. He just won the undisputed title against the best fighter in the world. Lewis was the one who said that crap, you just bought into it.
