He's a Jewish fighter out of New York. He's become pretty famous for being the only (as far as I know) orthodox Jew pro boxer. He's really strict about it, and it even influences which days he cannot fight. He's turned pro and been undefeated for a while, but he hasn't fought anyone of note, which is what his critics point out. However, his response is that he's been trying to get a big fight for years, and no one would give him one. So this is his first big test. If you want to know more about him, theres a documentary on him up on Youtube called "Orthodox Stance" I believe, check it out.

He's not even the biggest or best orthodox Jew fighter based out of Brooklyn. That honor goes to Yuri Foreman.

Salita is a light puncher with iffy skills who's built up a big record fighting cans. Khan should have no problems with him.

LOL, I'm not sure about him. Yuri Foreman might be orthodox, I know he's planning on becoming a rabbi.

Wouldn't that honor (besides the orthodox part) go to Zab Judah?

Well, regardless of his talent level I can see why Khan's people feel safe with Salita (in re: Amir's chin).

He let certified tomato cans Raul Munoz, Grover Wiley and Francisco Campos hang around for ten rounds each.

Judah's not orthodox though, which makes a big difference (i.e., doesn't follow the sabbath, have rules against violence that need to be followed while boxing, etc.). Heck, Judah's in a sect of Judaism that many Jews don't consider to be a real Jew anyway. He's Israelite, which is kind of like to Judaism what Nation of Islam is to Islam.
