I been thinking Mayweather one time admit that the reason he move up at ww is to get a De la hoya showdown. Now lets say De la hoya retired after his ko loss to Hopkins, would Mayweather stay at jw? I say yes cause thats his best weight by far.

He really didn't pimp. Think about it Mayweather called out De la hoya the first time when Mayweather was in either junior lightweight or lightweight. He wanted to fight Judah for the undisputed ww title to get more leverage on the De la hoya fight in which thats all Mayweather wanted.

Floyd said Oscar was his dream fight when he was still at 135. He was looking for a big payday. He decided to chase the man. His matchmaking was brillant those years when he was positioning himself into an Oscar fight. After he got the fight, he got the big payday & was ready to retire. Than he saw another easy payday in Hatton & retired again.

Honestly if Oscar had retired, I think Floyd woulda moved up anyway. He wanted Mosley badly at that particular point in time as well. Floyd was hungry for a payday. He had no choice but to move up if he wanted to make some money.

Floyd would not have been able to make 140 at some point anyway.

He likely would have moved up regardless of De La Hoya.
