Is Jones really that washed up to be considered a threat to Hopkins?

I see Hopkinstrying to bully jones on the ropes and smothering thehell out ofhim unless Roy has a different game plan. Hopkins has a good chin too. Either way I might be the only one that actuall tinks this is gonna be a good fight. This a fightthat both of these men owe us, about time. I'm not a fan of what happens inside the ring only, I'm a prefight and pos fight fan too, I lovethe drama and entertainment value that these guys bring, Can you imagine the shittalkingthat will go on in the 24/7 for this fight. Can't wait.

This fight both makes me happy, and sad. I like both boxers a lot, and this fight.. can severely hinder or hurt the careers of one of them imo. At the very least, perennial bragging rights will be had.

All in all, I'd like Jones to magically re-enter a second era of dominance and challenge big/bigger names (go go Cruiserweight title, victory over BHop, and taking out the top 2 in CW or LHW before retiring), but in all reality, Hopkins is more consistent and smart in terms of maintenance/long term battle plans. Plus, if RJJ actually accomplished all that, he'd get overzealous and take it as a sign to continue rather than quit.

Then again, with his ego, though, it's hard to say when/how quitting will ensue.

Rjj still has a Psychological advantage over Bhop. He also has hand speed advantage. Bhop is not a pressure fighter and his style is tailor made for RJJ. I will go with RJJ by decision in this fight as crazy as that sounds.

Hopkins wants to beat Jones, he's been wanting a rematch for many years now. Hopkins will stop Jones.

This fight will be the perfect antidote for insomniacs. Two old ass counter punchers? Don't expect fireworks. This is going to be one boring ass fight.

Yet another thread in which Danny Green is being overlooked.

Both are way past it. Hopkins looks better because he relies on his skills and ability to out-smart and out-think opponents while saving energy as much as he can. If Hopkins runs into someone that FORCES him to be active it will show he's shot, then again it's not easy to force even a 44 year old Hopkins to do anything in the ring, the man is just that good.

Jones relied mostly on his reflexes, once those were gone he was lost as you can see and as Calzaghe could see, otherwise Calzaghe would have continued to fight Welsh pet shop cashiers.

I think Jones still has the hand speed to give Hopkins problems but you have to make B-Hop the favourite. I hope it comes off as it has the potential to be a very interesting fight. Along the lines of Hagler vs Leonard or maybe more like Leonard vs Hearns 2. Two fighters past there best in a rematch that should have happened years before.

Just hope Roy doesn't balls it up against Green.

I think if he gets by Green unscathed....he beats Bhop, and my reasons are these:

BHop has trouble against fast fighters with good movement...Roy is still very quick and he seems to have finally learned to stay off the ropes, and he seems to have rededicated himself and it also seems like he wants to repair his legacy

Jones was washed up ****ing years ago. How this dude is still fighting bemuses me.
Listen, when you been KO Cold twice, I mean cold u are done at the top, BHOP aint never ever been dominated or Knocked the **** out like Jones. Jones cant hurt BHOP with ****. Its a shame because Jones was such a terrific fighter at his peak, he was a joy to watch.

I agree ! Danny is a seriously tough cookie with good fundamentals. I think most guys here might not have had a chance to watch him in action too much...

It doesn't sound crazy at all.... People also forget that 45 years of age, a fighter could look his age at any given time....

B-Hop is a master to analyze styles and counter them, the thing with Jones is that he has no particular style...You never know what's coming from where.

At a slow pace, head game, B-Hop will not beat Roy. He needs to impose himself and rough him up.

Jones needs to forgo the Green fight.

I just don't see the need or reason...
