A must see ... for you guys that have seen it ... what are you thoughts on it? ... That documentary shed some light on Tyson and his career as a whole ... he was a great fighter - yet very disturbed.
Tyson put some things out there about his troubles and I think (IMO) cleared the air ... it was obvious he had some emotional issues and was taken to a point in his life that he was not mental prepared for ... as well as his maturity level ... he just now seems to have settled down. I gained alot of respect for Tyson as a person, going through that and being able to overcome it to a certain degree takes alot. It takes a special person to edure something like that and being able to survive it. I seen the part when he was talking about D'Amato ... and how he started to break down ... this man was like Tyson's guardian angel and he left Tyson at a crucial point in Tyson's life. It was truly sad - Also think about at the end of his career ... how he just announced his retirement ... he said he's not going to disrespect the sport any further losing to "these" caliber of fighters. It takes a lot to say something like that and for him to realize it at that point in his life was amazing. He said he lost his hunger for winning years before he took that slide of losing.
Tyson was an emotional midget, and a man of low character. That wasn't his fault, but it's still true. I thought the movie was largely a waste of my time.
I saw it last night. Interesting, but not great. I can understand Boo's points but I think he has shown some development as a person and is able to look introspectively at his life. I wouldn't call him an emotional midget. I think he simply isn't eloquent enough to express his emotional level adequately. I simply loved what he said about Don King.:yep
I thought it was a put together well, but it didn't tell anything about Tyson we don't already know, besides the fact the he had gonorrhea when he fought Trevor Berbick. The documentray could have went further in detail describing some of Tyson's fights in and out of the ring. The comeback fight with Peter McNeely wasn't discussed, and neither was the Lennox Lewis fight, if I remember correctly.
Tyson came across as being more intelligent than I expected. I think Holyfield was allowed to get away with more than he should have (butts) because of the generally held low opinion of Tyson due to Tysons past offences. That said, Tyson seemed fairly cunning and ruthless himself so I can't generate much sympathy for him. Maybe if Cus hadn't died Tyson would have evolved into a better person, Cus' demise signalled a downward spiral for Mike.
good movie, but nothing new. i rate mike highley and think most people do, but they have forgotten the tyson era. he was the sickest mf i have ever had the pleasure to watch and only his out of the ring antics detract from the fact that he was the baddest man on the planet. yeah he has issuse but so ****ing what? who cares? not me. i hope the man goes on to better things in his life and finds a bit of happiness, as he like we, deserve it. peace out mike. LEGEND
It was a interesting view but nothing new or spectacular. Never heard the part where Tyson says he beat Don King. That was interesting. General good view but ot spectacular.
It was really crap, telling us stuff we already know, with Tyson only really saying "I ****ed up". That and it was really badly made with the 3 scene pip things constantly, that was ugly.
tyson's story made me kinda sad. did he **** that girl or not? he still denies it, i aint sure. i enjoyed his honesty about fighting mcbride just to pay the bills.......oh and don king is a *******
i didnt like the 3 cut scene either but tyson was very candid and it gave him a 'human face'. you can be the 'baddest man on the planet' all you want, but everyone has to either find a peace with them or implode. i enjoyed it because it showed how vulnerable everyone really is.
Because of his past experience with woman throwing themselves at him, I don't think he believed NO meant NO. My son pointed out some interesting 'quirks' he talks about and how this could have really been explained in some of the things he talks about in terms of sexual 'antics' and his 'likes'.
