Ok, I really didnt run uphill today. I just ran on a treadmill with the incline at 2.0%. Its damn hard. Do you think it takes time to get used to running uphill?
Yes. Its harder than running the same speed on a flat surface... therefore it will feel more difficult... because it is. I'm not sure I understand the question.
I often increase the incline instead of doing sprints. If I'm feeling pretty energetic (which isn't often), I'll increase the speed and the incline. To answer your question, the harder your workout, the better. Stick with it.
If you can, run outside. Running outside is a whole new game compared to running on a treadmill. Hard as it may be, it'll kick your ass even more outside. It sure kicked my black ass.
you'll eventually get used to it. when your legs become stronger and your cardiovascular endurance improves. As Dumi said try your best to run outside, its alot more interesting than running on a tredmill anyway.
On another note - is there much of a difference between biking in the gym and biking outside on an actual bike? I like blasting my legs on the gym bike and never thought of just trail riding....
i live in a naturally slope infested area, so i have many up hill slogs when im running. AFta a few minutes of running and you going up anotha hill, you start to feel the fire in ur calves. it definitely licks runnin on the treadmill. the treadmill is a fixed surface, whereas on the road, even the placing of the feet on treacherous and uneven surfaces can exert little energy.
