Pascal - Diaconu II is on ! December 11th in Montreal

Pascal is and should be the clear favorite in this fight. He is exactly the type of fighter you keep a guy like Diaconu away from. A fast boxer-puncher who can move and knows how to survive when in trouble.

With that being said, I think Diaconu can overcome the stylistic disadvantage if he really sells out early in the fight. He's not going to win a decision so he should just bore right in and fire away right from the getgo. Force the fight and soak up whatever punishment comes back. Keep the heat on Pascal early and often. If he tries to fight a tactical fight Pascal will eat him up. Adrian's size disadvantage combined with Pascal's speed lead to nothing but dead ends and he'll languish as Pascal piles up the points. Truth be told, considering the fact that Pascal floored Diaconu the first time, the worst thing Diaconu can do is be inactive in there. Rests should only be taken to recharge and come back with more aggression. The opportunities will be there as Pascal can be shaken. His survival skills are second to none so Diaconu has to just keep the heat on. It's his only chance.

 

If Diaconu goes for it full throttle from the bell and doesn't KO Pascal he'll get KOed late from a mix of exhaustion and getting slapped silly.

Froc-Pascal II has the potential to be huge if things keep going right for these guys.

 

Yes, he does run the risk of tiring and being stopped late but his other option would be to try and space out flurries over 12 rounds and that would play right into Pascal's hands. Like I said, Diaconu is not going to outbox Pascal so a decision is pretty much out of the question. Even if Diaconu were to win some rounds you'd have to imagine that Pascal himself is good for 7 or 8 rounds. Diaconu needs to come out all guns blazing from the opening bell and put the heat on Pascal. If he starts slow and gives away all the early rounds his chances will decrease significantly. Pascal will know that he's got rounds in the bank so he can get on his bike whenever Diaconu gets in close. Now that's not Pascal's style but even he's not gonna be foolish enough to take unnecessary risks late in a fight that he's leading. He stood and fought the first time but that's because the result wasn't guaranteed and Diaconu was, afterall, the champion.
