Welterweight is no transitional weight, it has always been one of the greatest divisions throughout history. 99% of all ATG move through divisions for bigger fame and fortune. Guys like Hearns, Leonard, Trinidad, Cuevas, Hoya and many more may have fought at different weights but welter was their best weight. It doesn't matter where you start or even finish it's your best and optimal fighting weight during your career.
