Very Popular took the biggest fights and lost them by KO ?

    Anyone agree ?

Nope, Ricky only lost two. Against the best guys. Hatton still has a massive fan base and could still sell out any venue on earth!

Taylor was never that popular and nowhere near Hattons popularity.

Aside from the popularity, which I agree is decidedly in Hatton's favor, I think the comparison is pretty apt. Both of them defeated aged champions, went on to face good competition, and had less than stellar results.

Taylor is a far better p4p fighter than Hatton. :nono

And having your name built on winning 2x over an old (but still extremely capable) Hopkins is more impressive than having your name built on a single win over an old Tszyu. :deal

Taylor still needs to be knocked out by a corner pole to be America's Ricky Hatton.

    It's a strange comparison.

Taylor's "wins" are better but his losses aren't. Pavlik twice and Froch don't exactly equal Pacquiao and Floyd.

Hatton was king of his division for 4 years. Taylor wasn't. Hatton is wayyy more popular than Taylor. Taylor isn't America's Ricky Hatton.

No, but it didn't need to be Pacquiao and Floyd. Hatton could've probably been KO'ed by lesser marquee names like Campbell, Holt or Maidana had he stuck around 140 and been matched with them instead of being involved in so-called "superfights".

Taylor lost more fights for different reasons. Reasons he tried to patch each time, only for new weaknesses to surface. I don't think he has won a single top fight yet. Maybe one against Hopkins.

Taylor has better skills, Hattons has better mindset.

Yeah, but we basically saw today what would have happened at 160 between AA and Taylor. I also don't think that pre-Floyd Hatton loses to any of those guys.

I'd stick up for Taylor harder if I believed deep down that he actually won all those fights at 160. I personally think he went 0-2-1 with Pops and Winky.

I wouldn't personally say that but I see what you mean. Taylor never had Hatton's popularity but his two wins over Hopkins are arguably better than any of Hatton's wins. I like both guys though, so that's not a slam on Hatton.

Taylor's a much better fighter though and he won against some of the best. While Hatton is 1-2 against top P4P fighters. Although I don't know if Tszyu was ranked during the time...

It's been an uphill battle for Jermain to earn my respect - he's actually done so since having his cherry popped.

Hatton, on the other hand, has been proving himself more and more a hypejob in my eyes since Collazo.
