These are the remaining fights: GROUP STAGE 1 Mikkel Kessler vs. Andre Ward GROUP STAGE 2 Andre Dirrell vs. Arthur Abraham Mikkel Kessler vs. Carl Froch Jermain Taylor vs. Andre Ward GROUP STAGE 3 Andre Dirrell vs. Andre Ward Carl Froch vs. Arthur Abraham Mikkel Kessler vs. Jermain Taylor
Tough ask actually. It'll be tight because the weaker fighters (the Americans) face each other so they're gonna be picking up points. If there are KOs in their fights Carl could be in trouble. For example if Ward beats Taylor by stoppage and then Dirrell stops Ward, Carl would be out (assuming he loses to AA and Kessler) Stranger scenario would be Carl losing to AA badly, then getting him in the semis
Tricky to tell but its quite possible that both Taylor and Dirrell finish the tournament with zero points and just 1 win out of 3 will take the other 4 fighters into the semis.
I feel it was the speed and the seer awquadness of Dirrell that caused Froch so many problems the likes of Kessler and Abraham will stand in front of him and may be dragged into a decent punch up... I just dont want to see abraham dirrell I can see it being a snooze fest
Just realised, Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler and Abraham... thats a frightening list of consecutive fights for Froch. 3 down, two to go! If Dirrell beats Abraham, then Froch starts to look very good indeed on paper. Also his next fight with Kessler may be for the Ring belt.
I have not seen the Froch fight yet, i was out last night for my brothers birthday, going round my mates later tonight to watch the fights. Sounds like Froch is going downhill now.
I think Froch may already have done enough just to sneak into the semis although he may get ko-ed by both Kessler and AA in his next two fights. I can't see JT picking up any wins which leaves Froch vying for one of two remaining semi final spots with Dirrell and Ward (as I see Kessler and AA qualifying comfortably). I cannot see Dirrell getting past AA next which means he'll need to KO Andre Ward as a mere points victory will just put him level with Froch on two points and not be enough as Froch has a head-to-head victory over him.
With a defense like that, very good chance. Certainly favour AA to knock Froch out. Probably stay upright against Kessler though.
The difference being that Abraham has a great defense, and Froch has none. Facing Abraham with your hands a mile apart and your arms swinging down by your side is a recipe for getting KTFO. It won't be a war, it'll be a massacre.
Abraham will drop rounds to Froch though - mark my words. It'll come to the half way point before Arthur drops the hammer on Froch - brutal KO will follow.
