GSP is not yet considered the best welterweight in MMA history. That label still belongs to Matt Hughes.

And swick is marketable. And a good fighter. Calling him C level is absurd. He may not be on the p4p list but calling him C level? Nope, I disagree.

If Daley puts some good wins together I'd like to see GSP fight him to.

I hear they're trying to give Hardy a push. Not that I like him but I'd like to see GSP smash him also.

Just because a fighter is dominate in his weight class doesn't mean they have to move up. Matt Hughes spent his entire career at 170, I don't remember anyone pressuring him to move anywhere. He flirted with the idea once to move to 185 to fight Matt Lindland but he didn't. GSP hasn't spent years as a dominate champion yet. He's only got 3 successful title defenses. Fitch, Penn, & Alves. I wanna see him make more defenses. Like tie or break Matt Hughes's record of defenses. That solidifies GSP's mark on the division.

Its kinda hard to ruin someone who didnt want to fight. But I understand that, its a great marketing ploy to run from Silva and say "I lasted longest with him while Hendo got stopped"

I beg to differ on you with this one, If GSP engaged and doesnt get beaten up badly in this fight, then Ive overrated Silva big time.

We're looking at an equivalent of PBF in boxing with Silva and Machida, only difference is while they hardly get hit, they put a beatdown unlike PBF. Strategicaly, skillwise theyre relatively pretty equal. Tactically Lyoto is far and above everybody in the fight game right now, just like when BHop was 5 years back.

I agree Swick is B level but interesting, he does have quick hands and keeps proving us wrong. The problem against GSP maybe his inability to avoid the takedowns, I just cant see him avoiding it.

No BJ has the Yes men in his corner quit for him. They asked him several times if he wanted to keep fighting, BJ wouldn't even turn around to face them. Just prior to GSP-Penn 2, GSP gave Fitch a much, much worse beating & Fitch still finished the fight even though he had no chance of winning. Don't compare him to the Gracie's either, Genzo let Sakuraba snap his arm in half rather than submit. No ****ing way would he have let his corner stop the fight with just one round to go. BJ wasn't injured, just tired, and tired of getting his ass kicked.

Anderson's "hi-lite" material comes from stand up strikers looking to trade with him-Leben, Franklin, Irvin & Forrest. The fight's with guy's who relied more on their ground game-Lutter, Marquadt, and Henderson were more competitive non-spectacular wins. Plus the fights with Cote and Lietes just plain stunk. Franklin is probably the only fighter out of all of them you could say "you can never look at that fighter the same way", and Franklin had been KO'd before that fight.

I don't know what your point is about GSP being down & insecure after the Serra fight. Since then, he's cleaned out the division and dominated rematches with Serra, Hughes & Penn. It made him a better fighter.

Well Swick has really good takedown defense. I don't know if he can stop GSP from taking him down but Swick's takedowm defense if very good. I remember the Josh Burkman fight, when everytime Burkman went in, it looked like he ran into a wall. He couldn't move Swick if his life depended on it.

I disagree. If you look at opponents, common opponents, and the fact that GSP won 2 out of 3 versus Hughes I think makes it clear that GSP is the best WW in MMA history.

Don't get me wrong GSP is a better fighter than Hughes, but they both have outstanding resumes. As far as common opponents(Penn, Trigg, Sherk, Serra, & Alves) they both hold victories over Penn & Trigg by stoppage. GSP holds a stoppage victory over Serra. Hughes also holds a victory over Serra. They both beat Sean Sherk. Yes GSP whipped Alves and Alves beat Hughes but Hughes has beaten 4 out of the 5 common opponents. That's excellent IMO.

Hughes's victories over opponents at the time he was champion made him one of the very best. And the best 170 lber to step in the Octagon. Carlos newton, Hayato Sakurai,(prime) Sean Sherk, (prime) Frank Trigg twice, & BJ Penn(even though they split 2 fights). Sure GSP beat Hughes 2 out of the 3 fights and IMO that's only reason GSP's resume might be slightly better. GSP still has some work at 170.

I cannot fathom how anyone still has Matt Hughes as the best WW in history. GSP has surpassed him in EVERY aspect, skills and resume. GSP's competition is Much stiffer as well.

unless BJ moves up to WW, and puts together a nice win streak with wins over the likes of Fitch, Alves, Daley or Koscheck, he doesnt ever deserve to be in the same cage as GSP again. Now that hes 0-2 against St. Pierre, he needs to actually earn his title shot this time, if he wants it. And beating LW's doesnt count. He shouldnt get a shot at GSP ahead of all the guys who have been busting their asses in the WW division, trying to make it to the top. Would be a waste of time for BJ anyway, since he would get smashed just as bad, if not worse, in a 3rd fight.

^^^^^ - The Truth. bj quit. After running his mouth like a *****, calling GSP a quitter, BJ quits. How pathetic is that?
