Would you guys be complaining? So many of you say Floyd can't do anything but run in there, but at least he consistently out lands his opponents throughout the rounds, rather than here and there. Dirrell was unlucky, but has himself to blame for the fight style employed. It's almost like the ****ing twilight zone to see so many people say how great that style is, considering.
People complaining about Floyd running know nothing about boxing and dont pay attention to compubox stats because in every one of those instances he outlands his opponents. If Dirrell had threw a counter left before Froch cornered him against the ropes he would have a more concrete argument, although I thought he won. Froch was open for the counter all night when he cornered Dirrell and had Dirrell had more defensive instincts he would have made this fight very easy.
its smart fighting for guys who are skilled enough to employ it. but they have to balance elusiveness with aggression. dirrell did that, albeit marginally, last night. people who criticise that style of boxing just because it isnt crowd pleasing need to get in the ring with someone stronger than them to get a perspective.
Floyd also doesn't run like that, that's the point I'm making. But lets say Floyd was on the backfoot for an entire fight, only landed as much as Dirrell did and ultimately spoiled the opponents boxing, would people yell robbery or praise the lord that Floyd was peanlised for his spoiling tactics?
dirrell should have threw a left hook when he was on the ropes... only if dirrell turned on the heat in round 8!!
Oh that's nice. For the first time in, say, a month-and-a-half boxing fans are actually focussing on and debating about something other than Floyd Mayweather, everybody's raving about the super six and somebody goes and brings Floyd back into it... nice going man
I don't like Mayweather, but he wins pretty much all of his bouts clearly and cleanly. Dirrell fouled all night and fought like a terrified kid. Froch probably wouldn't have gotten off so lightly with the rabbit punching if Dirrell weren't instigating the situation(s) by holding and ducking into him all night. The officials were clearly sick of his awful, negative style and leaned towards the man who wanted to fight in most of the close rounds - it's not robbery and it's not rocket science. If Dirrell fought consistantly as he did in the 11th he would have stopped Froch. He didn't, and he deservedly dropped to his first defeat.
Yes, but unfortunately for Dirrell - most of those shots came in four of the twelve rounds. Boxing is a round by round sport, not a full fight one.
I don't know. I thought Dirrell won, but I was happy that he was penalized. I was rooting for Froch but he landed NOTHING. The holding was just too much though. There's a point where they just need to be DQ'd or something.
All the best punches were landed by Dirrell, are you ****ing blind? He had Froch clearly stunned and on wobbly legs even.
Holding didnt cost dirrell the fight, running when he did run didnt cost him that neither, what costed him the fight was biased judging in the home town of Froch..... I am sorry but I really wish Showtime would add the compu box stats to their broadcast, Dirrell landed atleast three to one...
