Umm Tarver did not say he thought Froch won the fight. He was saying for most of this fights in rounds that Froch couldn't get off tonight. Tarver was saying alot of positive good things about Dirrel in those rounds in which i feel Tarver thought Dirrell won the fight. He even say "I've been there" reffering to the decision. And didn't Tarver say Carl Croch? <<I think that saids it all.
It's not like it's any better anywhere else if Ward doesn't get knocked out do you seriously think he will lose against Kessler? ...I actually think Ward will legitatemly win that one but if he doesnt and avoids getting knocked out Ward's gonna win regardless of whether he deserves to or not.
Dirrell did not impress me at all and I could quite happily never have to suffer another fight he 'participates' in. His 'style' would be enjoyable if he was an effective counter-punching; he's not. His style is John Ruiz on amphetamines and thoroughly unworthy of a Champion.
To be fair, both guys fought horribly on Saturday night and it didn't help that there appeared to be a very bad clash of styles. I was particularly dissapointed in Dirrell though, the guy just didn't want to fight at all. I get the idea that he has zero confidence in his chin and I can't belive there are people questioning why he had the point taken, the ref must have warned him at least half a dozen times before doing so. In reference to Froch's rabbit punching, of course it is an illegal blow, however when your opponent is constantly ducking below the waist or turning his back to you then you don't exactly have a wealth of options for where to hit him.
I had dirrell up by 1 point at the end of the fight. I thought that the British commentary was really biased towards Dirrell and getting a boner about everything that Dirrell though. I thought Froch did well in spells. His jab was his best weapon when he used it. His defence was also not as bad in this fight as I've seen it in others. He actually blocked most of Dirrells punches with his shoulder and right hand. I did think that Froch did a bit of a chicken dance in the 10th but on the replay it didnt seem to trouble him. Dirrell is a cracking talent and he could have won had he engaged more.
I'm now going to get into the hot tub and drink some champagne with my beautiful girlfriend Rachel...
I think Dirrell showed much more than expected - a very good fighter. Actually every super six fighter did extremely well and i cant wait for Ward vs. Kessler :good So many different boxingstyles will secure some competitive fights to come :bbb
One of the best posts I seen, you're 100% correct. I hope they kick Dirrell out of the super 6 if he tries that again, but AA should spark him anyway.
Actually, I think if Dirrell engaged more, he'd be KO'ed by round 6-7, he would have gassed out, and he would have been caught flush at some point, remember Froch nearly ko'ed him at round 8. If he had a better chin, more heart, he would be an excellent fighter, but you can't give people a heart or chin sadly.
