if Taylor cannot continue in the tourney what happens then? Will he be replaced with another fighter? how will this play out?

Best wishes to JT. I think he should sit out the rest of the tourney, that was a brutal knock out.

All except the training hard, living up to his promises...

Like anyone would have actually remortgaged because Hatton told them to! Boxers aren't know for the financial advice, normally

I think JT has gone as far as he can go so far as his legacy is concerned, and I don't think there are many more 6 figure paydays out there for him. It's not worth it. Time for him to think about doing something else.

word is he has brain bleeding like Mesi did. That would be the end of his career.

Taylor returned home despite doctor warning :-(

It seems Taylor left the hospital yesterday and returned to the US despite doctors warning of the risks of flying after the effects of the concussion he suffered.

I don't understand if there is the trainer, promoter, wife, mother, why the hell don't they stay for a few days - doctors' advice - get some rest, let the injury heal, then return. This is insane.

There's no 'official' confirmation whether JT did suffer a minor brain hemorrhage, he was released yesterday so maybe it was just a heavy concussion, but still... BILD does have good sources on boxing... seriously, the only news I wanted to hear on Taylor is no news or that he's enjoying his stay in Berlin for a few more days. :-(

I hope he makes a full recovery and realizes that it's time to retire.

Waste his talent? He was a champion and had great success. How is that wasting your talent?

And his only two losses were to two pound 4 pound number 1 champions. Can Taylor say that? I don't think so.

Taylor can say that he beat the pound 4 pound number 1 champion. Can't say the same for Hatton.

I think he means Hatton doesn't live a well disciplined boxer life. We'll never know what he could have done.

UPDATE: Lou DiBella on Twitter confirms that Jermain Taylor left the hospital:

"JT out of the hospital and ok. Thats all that matters right now. Boxing is a hard way to earn a living..Getting out healthy is everything."

Sauerland statement says Taylor is vacationing in Europe:

Team Sauerland and King Arthur Abraham were relieved to hear that Jermain Taylor was able to leave the hospital on Sunday. He departed Berlin as originally scheduled and is now vacationing in Europe. “We are relieved to hear that Jermain is feeling better and that he could leave the hospital on Sunday,” Team Sauerland General Manager Chris Meyer said. “The health is more important than a win or a loss. Jermain is a great fighter and a great champion.”

And King Arthur Abraham added: “I was very sorry when I heard about him spending the night in hospital. I want to defeat my opponents in the ring but I do not want to harm them.. The health is the most important thing and I am very happy that Jermain is doing fine. It was an honour to fight him.”

Taylor really made a good showing against very tough fighter and deserves much respect from everyone who loves boxing. I hope he makes a quick recovery and doesn't give up...unfortunately, he had to fight AA in his first match. No shame in losing to a great fighter with that much power. Taylor is a warrior!!

Man, I was rooting for AA in the fight, but I was also rooting for JT to put on a good show and I was really hoping he wouldn't get knocked down or out. Was sad to see him hit the canvas at the end.

Best wishes to him and a speedy recovery!

I'll be sad if he drops out of the tourney, but I would definitely understand if he did. I hope he recovers & returns! He fought a very, very tough opponent in the first round, but I would definitely like to see him continue if his health permits. He's gotta take care of himself first!
