    He needs to be able to fight on the inside. As it is now when someone gets close he just trys to tie up. It wouldn't be so bad if he had a strong jab on the outside which would make people think twice about coming in, but, he doesn't. Or at least doesn't consistently use it. So, he ends up quickly potshotting on the outside and then having to hold when someone comes inside.
