Lateral movement????? There's a big difference between lateral movement and pure running away

 

Lets hope he is professional enough in his preparation this time and does not come in overweight. A big question mark hangs over Dirrell. He has teh skill but there seems to be something lacking . Another poor performance ( his performance against Froch was poor) and he will look like someone brought in to make up the numbers and warm up the big boys for the main event.

 

If Dirrell gets KO'd by AA in all likelyhood it's because he realises he can't win a decision by running like he did against Froch, engages more and gets caught. If he fights like he did against Froch (wet bar of soap on a skateboard) he'll almost certainly lose another points decision.

 

Dirrell just has that amateur mentality that each individual punch is a "scoring shot" and doesn't consider the other factors.

He really should have let Froch walk in more, because he was out-speeding him at mid-range and tagging him cleanly. It was silly when he had the fight won in the second because of the disparity in speed that he wasn't prepared to actually land some shots.

 

Dirrell did a good acount for himself compared to Froch, but overall he both impressed and dissapointed me.

 

Andre didn't run. He just moved a lot and held a lot which gave him a lot of space with the help of the ref creating distance between the two. He did show lateral movement but it was sloppy and didn't impress at all. Definitley not a Mayweather. But he's young, green and faced a very good champion in Froch. I think he did well considering this was his first step up.

 

Andre didn't run, but he did ambulate at a high velocity.

Dirrell came into this fight at the bottom rung, the least experienced, and with the weakest resume. He ventured across the globe into a dangerous fighter's backyard in front of his hostile and adoring fans. He was ridiculed mercilessly before this fight and gave back as good as he got. Even right up to the first bell he was questioned about flying in only six days before the fight with Froch ludicrously saying it was disrespectful for such an important fight and that it would show in his performance.

He was taunted, booed, rabbit punched, picked up and blatantly thrown to the canvas and kept his composure. He may not have fought the perfect fight. Some green did show but for at least more than half of this fight he put on a boxing clinic and landed far more punches, never getting hit with a single substantial punch, and had Froch in serious trouble at one point.

But he lost on a very tough and debatable split decision and even acknowledge some of his shortcomings in the fight. He took the loss better than the victor who spent his time after the fight trying to explain a poor performance.

He gets all the props in the world.

 

Have you ever actually boxed before? I'm guessing no. Ever heard of cutting off the ring? It's a skill most boxers learn before their first amateur fight. And Froch? Well, he needs some refresher courses...his footwork sucks, bad. And that was a small ring, no? Still, Froch couldn't catch him. Go on and on all you want about Dirrell running, but the fact is that he landed more punches and exploited Froch's weakness...his lead feet.
