E.C: I wouldn't want to take that chance. Really, I'd rather fight for the real title against Wladimir Klitschko. Don't get me wrong, it's [a fight with Povetkin] a really big opportunity, but I'd rather fight for the real title. It's not that I think I'd lose [to Povetkin], I don't think I'll lose whoever I fight. Eddie continues to do the right thing in and out of the ring. I don't know if the man can beat Wlad, but I sure hope he picks up a belt against sombody.
i dont know i prefer while waiting or so just go ahead with povetkin. he would be avenging his loss and winning at least the interim ibf title. to me i just dont know he speaks as if he dont want to risk injuring against povetkin but to me sounds like an excuse. he speaks of what else he have to do and that hes number one. and to his quote its not that i think ill lose to him(povetkin) but he does have a lose to him already. so for me i just prefer him to go ahead a fight with povetkin if wins he had avenged his loss and at least he is an interim champ till he meets wlad. and i would like to see the rematch to with the 208 chambers if stays at that weight.
the guy is backing out of the fight with povetkin! what a great guy! a true champ! he got the chance to fight povitkin and avenge his loss to him and he's backing out!:-(
He not "backing out"- no fight is mafe. He would rather fight the real champ. Its kind of sad that boxing has become so cynical that some do not realize that that is cool.
There is always more intriguement when people face Wlad due to his limited chin, but the fact remains that Chambers is not a puncher and is a very small heavyweight. While he has good skills they will be neutralised by Wlads pawing jab and the threat of a right hand following it (basically what happens to evrey WK opponent).
If he beats povtkin he will be the champ! so why not? but this is what chambers know's, if povtkin beats him then he's out of the money,,
Eddie doesn't move his head, I don't care if he's fast for a heavyweight, you get in there against Klitschko and you kepp your head stationary, you lose...point blank period
Are you kidding me? Chambers probably has the best head movement in the heavyweight division. He doesn't move his head as much as you think because he employs the peek-a-boo defense, but he was moving his head a lot (while blocking shots) against Alexander Dimitrenko. See for yourself. I respect the hell of Chambers for the fights he's taken and his willingness to prove himself against top-10 comp when others aren't. But all that quote is is the common sense of waiting for a bigger money fight. Every fighter on the planet would say the exact same thing.
