tyson was never ruined he was just never that good. he had great management that set him up with stiffs and has beens that had the right style to make tyson look good. just look at tysons greatest hits it is comical i dont know who fought better fighters butterbean or tyson. just listen to teddy atlas talk about how they set tyson up with his fights. green, mercedes, jaco, ribalta, fergerson, zouski, tillman, jameson, etc,,,. are not all time greats. and people forget about his close fight with tillis. the fact of the matter is the first person with above average skills that fought back with tyson gave him a brutal beating nothing was different with tyson he was not out of shape or overweight or anything he fought like he always did he just took a severe beating and lost every round to a better fighter thats all plain and simple. tyson fought the same when he fought green, zouski, jaco, tubbs, fergerson, as he did holyfield, douglas, lewis, williams, and mcbride just the later fought back and brutely knocked him out. tyson could not change his style and had no plan b when he started to take a beating from the begining of his carear to the end of his carear nothing changed. nothing. also tyson NEVER BEAT AN ALL TIME GREAT IN HIS PRIME. NEVER. he lost to some out of their primes like holyfield who did not look so good in his fights before tyson and was suposed to be washed up thats the only reason tyson fought holyfield. so i do not think any fight ruined tyson i think he fought the same from begining to end his management just set him up with the wrong fighters he was probley the best managed and one of the most protected in boxing history. remember he avoided foreman witch would have been the biggest fight in history instead he fought bruno, seldon, and a washed up holyfield, he also avoided mercer witch hbo offered more money then the forementioned and witherspoon, etc,,. so there was no chage in tyson he was never that good. he had great management, very protected, and fought the right people to make him look good. thats all. he was an above average heavywieght who when set up with the right fights looked awesome and when he was not set up right he lost almost every round and was savagely kod

:patsch if u didn't see that tyson was different in the 1990's as opposed to before than there's no use. you make one good point: yes tyson never beat an atg in their prime. he did though destroy many very good hw's in a fashion and style rarely if not ever seen before or after. btw, lewis, the klits, and holmes never beat a prime atg either (though lewis might qualify depending on your view of vitaly). and anyone who mkaes the argument that any decent hw 'who fought' back w/ tyson won loses a lot of credibilty (yeah the 20 or so contender/fringe contenders all laid down for tyson). and if u thinkg mcbride and wiliams 'brutally' beat tyson that's another problem

I agree with "Addie". I have been saying since those 2 wars with Razor Rudduck (who pre-tyson would have beat both Klit Bros). Tyson was not the same. After taking a beating like those two very, very powerful men took it is hard for them to recover. look at jermaine taylor he was never the same after pavlik.Tyson's troubles outside the ring did play a factor but it was all down hill after Razor.

Tyson said that Razor Ruddock hit him harder than anyone he had ever faced. I don't know how much those two fights took out of him but I can tell you that many of the punches that Tyson took against Ruddock could have been seen from a mile away but Mike had no interest in defense anymore. He walked straight in and caught the smash square on the jaw way more than he should have. I can also tell you that getting hit by Ruddock over the course of 19 rounds isn't necessarily something that would prolong a career. Tyson hadn't really been in any all-out wars up until that point and had only taken one real beating (Douglas) so one would assume that there was still plenty left in the tank after the Ruddock fights. Problem is that the tank was emptied due to a lack of desire and the prison stint. Tyson himself has said many times that he just didn't care about the sport anymore at that time and he fought like that.

I was never, ever a big fan of tyson . . . but i do respect skill. A prime Tyson really had no need for a plan B. He really had no need to adapt. smokin joe, big george ( and u could argue RJJ) had one style but they like tyson. But had a set of skills and natural ability set them apart. For anyone to say that he was never any good really has limited knowledge of boxing or is just reconstructing history. For anyone to unify a titles during any era (I would argue that the heavies in tyson's era were more highly regarded and should be considered a better then today's crop. were an old blown up, out of shape miiddleweight who hasn't fought for ever has the best set of skills). so come on love him or hate him you gotta give the devil's his due and atleast respect him.

where is the difference. he has always fought the same way with the same head movement and the same combinations[ right hook to the body right uppercut remember he tried it on holyfield it did not work like it did on jaco, jameson, zouski, etc,,.] and could only fight going foreward the only thing that changed was the person in front of him they backed him up and fought back. he never had a plan b. never. in the begining or at the end of his carrear. watch his fights with mercedes, young, jaco, ribalta, green, bruno, etc,,. then watch him fight holyfield, williams, douglas, etc,,. and the only difference is the later would not allow him to fight his style and fight back and make him pay while the forementioned let him fight his style and did not fight back and make him pay but it was the same tyson at the same weight and the same shape. and holmes beat norton in a war. and norton was still near his prime and fought all comers and was champ for 8 years.williams beat tyson and the knockdown was brutal just look at tysons face and the combination williams hit him with and remember this is danny williams. and tyson just quit agianst mcbride before he really started to take to much of a beating remember the look on his face when mcbride knocked him down that said it all and remember that was kevin mcbride. i would not say the klits are atgs yet but the are not dodging anyone like tyson did and lewis did not dodge anyone his only fight that did not happen was bowe and bowe dodged lewis like tyson dodged foreman.and the very good hws are who fresh out of renab thomas, coked up tubbs, biggs, fergerson, holmes who had not fought for years and only had 2 months to train no tune ups, tucker who gave tyson a very close fight with a broken hand that broke in the 2nd round. if you can prove me wrong please do. i just dont see it
