You should really spread your horizons a bit, Radab. I clearly said 5 fighters, you'll only get away with listing three on the account of being Scottish. My mother is half Scottish - she'd want us to remain friends. Sleep is for the dreary ones, anyhow.
Yeah man i know the feeling. Once Morales was past it i thought i'd never get really into another fighter again, then Marquez captured me. Bit worried though cause i cant see where the next fighter is coming from. Lyoto Machida's captured me in MMA, but cant see any boxers on the horizon
I do watch MMA, but I don't think I could ever be moved by any of the fighters who compete in it. Boxing is the only sport for me, and likewise, I'm slightly concerned about the current state of the game. We still get exciting fights every year, and the old dogs like Mosley, Hopkins, and Marquez remain as some of the best in the world. That's either a testament to the talent and staying power of the three, or because we're lacking some really good prospects. Gamboa and Lara don't excite me, at least not yet. Time will tell.
MMA will never be as special as boxing, but without the next Marquez or Barrera, it's going to be like being a football fan without really supporting a team, it's so much less special How do you see Cotto Pacquiao?
I'm pretty much the same. I wasn't into boxing too much, but I did like Tyson, but he really didn't get me into boxing. I saw his fights a long time ago, not live but on tape, I'm 23 and his real glory days stopped when I was only 2... He remained a favorite and now that I liked boxing more, I gave his career a more in depth look and I liked him even more. The real reason I got into boxing, was a PPV advertisement, that I watched over and over one day. Announcing the Castillo vs Corrales II fight, and showing highlights of the 1st fight. I was amazed, went to youtube and watched it all. In awe and mad about Corrales spitting out his mouthpiece . After that I started watching just about every boxing fight I could, even watching unknowns and watching ATGs or just older good/great fighters but not quite ATGs. So I was hooked. I saw Manny fight and loved his style and his humble character and have followed him since.
It probably won't be as tiresome as it will be for you Radab. I'm discovering talent from back in the day on a daily basis, and watching old fights is something I really enjoy doing. Fighters like Soto and Andrade both have my full undivided attention, if only because they are the tough rugged fighters that I often admire. Big hearts, and always come to fight. Do I see the next Barrera on the horizon? Not for a long time, to be perfectly honest. I feel Cotto should be made a slight favorite based on the size advantages in addition to the technical ability that Ricky Hatton didn't possess. It's true, Cotto will be the bigger man on the night, but he also has a lot of other qualities that will give most if not every Welterweight in the world today big problems. Cotto nullified the hand speed of Mosley with his great timing, and even though Margarito never went down, Cotto has stopped many a fighter in his time. The body attack will be key, as will Cotto's ability to take Pacquiao's best shots. Really intriguing match-up, cannot wait. How do you see it?
Yeah, you've always been a real student of the game. I love Andrade too, but TBH i felty quite sick watching him take such punishment in the Kessler fight. Similar to how i felt with Mosely Margarito (Margaritos long been one of my favourite fighters, but damn he gets hit so hard so often it can make being a fan extremely hard to take) As for thte Pac Cotto, im not so sure. Im just glad Mannys getting in with someone who poses a legit thread. Mannys looking dsvastating and is absolute prime, while Cottos not quite looked the same fighter since the Margo loss. The arrogance and utter confidence isnt there, which spells trouble against the Filipino buzzsaw. I think Manny has the power to hurt Cotto and break him down, and the speed to avoid too much return fire. I'm thinking Pacquiao stops him, possibly in the 8th
1. Ricky Hatton 2. Arturo Gatti 3. Oscar De La Hoya these were three of the Boxers that got me into Boxing. After the Ben Tackie fight I decided that Ricky Hatton would be my fighter. So, I have watched all him fights live from then on. Gatti, his fan friendly style got me into the sport as well. De La Hoya vs Tito was my first fight that I can remember. It was a huge event big time party and I decided that Boxing was something I wanted to do. 4. Antonio Escalante- A couple of months ago (vs Locke) on FNF I went to my first live fight and it was amazing. Undercards were great and Escalante was very impressive. So, now, you can say he is my new favorite fighter. 5.....probably Miguel Cotto. I have followed his career for awhile now as well. I'm not hardcore like I am with Ricky Hatton, but I have seen him fight and followed his career long enough that you can call me a fan.
