well if his infection is as bad as his team says it is, then he would probably have no choice but to get stripped of his titles.

C'mon... you know how ABC's work.... they'll create interim titles and take sanctioning fees for those, deem Kelly Champion in Recess, then charge him for a tune up defense and the Interim guy for a tune up defense as well.

There would be no real point, who's at MW to pick up the titles? There are no exciting bouts I can think of for the vacant titles.

    good topic question.

but didn't Pavlik already make the mandatory defense of his WBO belt in Feb of this year vs Rubio? so that would bye him some time

and what about his WBC Middleweight belt. I didn't think a top mandatory challenger had been named

He'll still have the Ring title regardless. He's the top man unless he gets forced into retirement or moves up to Super Middleweight. ABC titles be damned.

He won't be stripped unless he doesn't agree to a fight at the start of next year. He'll have a mandatory in February or March which he should be ready for. But you never know. I'd rather see him wait until his hands are back than be rushed into anything.

    :stir

you are right, there is an addendum to the rules that all mandatory title defenses are permissive and can be avoided based on the color of your skin. considering that pav and arum's top rank ppv telecasts do well enough to make pbf green w/ envy, you should blow the whistle man!! don't let this injustice go!! power to the people!!!

    YES WE CAN!! :yep

I don't give a **** what the ABC titles do or don't do. I'm just hoping to see Pavlik step in there with quality opposition again because he's really milking it these days.

Uhhh...I don't know about the racial angle, but being a draw definitely plays into it. Look at what the WBC did to Bradley (who has no real fanbase) after he unified his WBC strap with the WBO (the same two ABCs that Pavlik holds). They gave the kid less than a month before demanding that he pick between the belts.

But who really gives a ****? The ABCs mean nothing these days.
