I completely agree with weighing in the day of. I do. BUT fifteen round fights being eliminated and weight classes being added is for the safety of the fighters and it has been more safe as far as I'm concerned. Significantly so and I think it's worth it.

I tend to look at the Ring magazine belt as the guide to who's the man to beat in each division. But I don't mind the 4 governing bodies as long as they make it easier for unification fights. The main thing they need to do is get rid of all this Interim rubbish.

In terms of 15 rounders and weighing in the day before. This was changed to protect the health of the fighters. So I can't see that changing.

boxing needs a fifa one world title and also euro, north american etc title that actually have some worth. It would be a great way to hype up contenders (which is what most titlest are now).It would like to see every fight taxed and that taxed used to fund gyms, pay healthcare and pension plus champ getting paid for their belt not paying for it.

Actually i wonder how much it would cost to buy the alphabets out.Didn't the wbc nearly go bankrupt a while ago

great ideas but money-making is the biggest factor why "one-champ per divison" and "lesser divisons" wont happen. it would be very good to see that "weigh-in on fight night" too. it will also benifit the boxers themselves heath-wise, it's really not wise to **** up your body by draining it too much for the weigh-in then bloating for the fight night. at some point, your body will get you back bigtime if you keep on doing it.

get rid of boxing on pay per view, or at least lower the price to 20 dollars a fight

You can keep numbers 1. and 3. but I don't think we really need numbers 2. and 4. The argument against number 2. is that fighters are going to cheat and drain themselves to make wieght anyway so why not lessen the risk and let them have a day to rehydrate so at least they don't their dumbass killed? It's a very debateable and controversial topic

And I've never really cared for the idea of bringing back 15 round fights.... and I don't think you'll get fighters and TV networks to agree to them these days because 12 rounds is less work for better money and they also fit better into a 1 hour TV program. Besides, do you really want to see 3 more rounds of any John Ruiz fight? :tired If your argument is that 15 rounds cuts down on the number of draws them simply bump the number up to 13. You don't need a full 3 extra rounds to eliminate that problem.

I see where your coming from about saftey being the reasoning behind day before the fight weigh ins. I was of the opinion that if there were less weight divisions and fighters weighed in on the day of the fight they would be less likely to try and suck weight. Also I believe fighters would be healthier, and have longer careers if they did not suck weight. As far as fifteen round fights I am just old school. You make a good point about fighters and TV networks not having a reason to want to change that. I just do not think that is a good enough reason not to have fifteen round fights. I mean maybe six round fights would fit better into a half hour program, and fighters could do less and networks could give even less air time to boxing. As far as the John Ruiz argument that is just not fair, with that type of logic you could call for an all out ban of boxing.

Most of the so-called improvement would only make boxing more dangerous. Most have been done away with for a reason. I remember seeing a study back in the mid 1980's that stated the guy that was ahead after the 12th round in a fight won the fight over the 15 round distance 90% of the times, plus there were no fewer disputed fights with 15 round fights.

Same day weigh-in were linked to the brain injuries that happened in boxing at a much higher clip pre day before weigh-ins. What was happening was the brain was devoid of the fluids around the brain and boxing with reduced fluids around the brain is like puting a grape in a soda can and rolling it down the steps, it gets banged around worst then if there was soda in the can with the grape.

At the end of the day the only thing that can improve boxing is getting it out there to a wider number of people, the changes here would be only for the hardcore slugger fans, guys that want to see blood and thinks that the only good fight ends with a knockout, those guys need to hang out at the bars more often and stop calling themselves boxing fans.

Number 2 is interesting. I'd like to see closer monitoring of a fighters weight in the run up to a fight to try to eliminate draining/rehydrating. But I just can't see a way to implement it properly.

All that would happen is a fighter would repeatedly drain/rehydrate whenever his weight was checked. And that can't be a good thing.
