Wait until he gets well and then fight Williams. Optimally, Williams will have fought Sturm and gained a belt at MW by that time and the fight will have more meaning. After that, no fights make sense at MW other than a rematch with PW if demanded. I hope him all the best. Good guy with a lot of marketability if he gets back to his dominating ways.
Alright man, I'm over it. I have healed Bitter ain't the word for how I was feeling.Damn, This was a huge let down to me. In one of the past threads I mentioned to Pipe how bad that hand looked at the presser. And just from the pics b/c of the condition of the hand you could see it was still very ****ed up. I commented to Pipe that he has very petite hands. Well come to find out his hand ain't that petite it's just ****ed up. How you at a presser for a fight and can't even close your hand? I didn't second guess it at the time b/c i thought these people were pros but...whatever. They ****ing robbed us of a mega fight.
He should get healthy, if he is indeed injured, and then continue campaigning at middle. All this talk of him moving up is premature. He weighs about 169-171 on fight night right now, which means he doesn't need to move up anytime soon. He has looked worse north of 160 than he has at 160, which leads me to believe that he probably doesn't have the frame for super middle. Stay at 160, see what contenders come up, and just go the Hopkins route at that weight.
People voiting retired are just effin dumb, the guy can still fight but he needs to stop taking the middleweight division for hostage and just forfeit his titles. He can fight for it back when hes healthy but for now give the guys who worked hard for it and are active a shot.
The new article Boo posted says the doctors EXPECTED him to be OK in time. I think since they put a cast on it after the second surgery it masked the problem. I don't think the stiffness was there after the first. I think one article had him playing basketball. I'm pretty bummed though. 4 to 5 months turn around for the top guys is pretty normal so we just don't see our favorites that often to start with. Kelly will be out close to a year if not longer now.
Personally, i think he should move up to 168 as there is'nt much left for him at MW. Loads of career and legacy defining fights at SMW, those guys fighting each other are good for the sport. I voted retire though, just to get a reaction from boo:yep.
why people wants him to retire? Even he has weak opposition now he may safely go Hopkins route with max # of defenses and become legend in a few years.
