A little biased arent we? You want a prime Tyson but you bring up Lewis at his worst. Lewis made the mistake of underestimating opponents or not being prepared. No matter when they fought, Lewis would be in top shape for a Tyson fight.:deal
He was on his way down anyway after an ass whoopin and a big right hand. If it was just the push, then Mike could have got up.
Lennox showed mercy... He would have kept battering him. It was a good thing for Tyson he pushed him.
You should check out the Douglas and Ruddock fights, also. Mike Tyson was eating bombs, and Ruddock was a lights out puncher.
Tyson walked through a **** load of hard punches that fight before the knockout. Completely legitimate knockdown in my book, he would have fell despite the push.
Perhaps if Mikey had faced Lewis in his prime rather than pay him step aside money we could have seen that fight. I can remember how crazy this forum was with people picking Tyson to drop Lewis - didn't happen though.
Are you saying 1996 is Tysons prime? :huh Tyson wanted to unify the tittles first. But nevermind that, about the push. Push or not he was done. That was a huge right hand, and to make it worst Tyson leaned on it and didnt even see it comming. And the fact that it was in the 8th round after he took a big beating and was obviously tired as **** he still could find the strenght to stay on his feet only to fall down beacuse Lewis put his weight on him, says alot about his punch resistance. Mind you even if LL didnt push him he could have just thrown an uppercut and make it even worse, but he showed mercy. :yep
Tyson was one of the most exciting fighters I have ever seen, with Cus D'Amato he could have done almost everything. Kevin Rooney was the "only" trainer after Cus who could have kept him in top form. I like Tyson.
No, but I would have given him a far better chance at that stage. If we are talking about a Tyson who was beating Berbick as being prime then Lewis hadn't even turned pro.
