100% correct call, Taylor was done, what if there had been 30 seconds left? you could have had a fatality on yer hands & Steele gets hammered by that lying ***** Duva for allowing Meldrick to get KO'd.

It's a 3 minute round & just taylor's bad luck that he got dropped, but the blame lies with Duva for distracting Taylor when steele asked him if he was OK & he turned his head away, he was gone, out of it on his feet, so why allow the flashing light to rob Chavez of his late fair & square victory.

This is such a sack of **** argument. Tunney got beat by Greb, so badly he was put in the hospital for a week, but he came back, beat Greb and beat Dempsey. Louis was beaten absolutely senseless by Schmeling and came back to break Max's back with a body shot. Champions overcome. You can not blame Taylor's decline on "hurt feelings", but rather the physical destruction inflicted by Chavez and Norris and finished by Espana.

Don't get me wrong, Taylor impressed me and entertained me. Maybe he got a little too much too early. I don't know. But he was broken by Chavez, not Steele.

Physically; a broken eye orbital and (according to his own trainer), swallowing a pint and a half of blood, due to a cut inside in his mouth, kind of added to his woes.

Situation kinda reminds me of Mosley-Mayorga. Of course he wasn't up on the cards, but did Mayorga really need to be rendered unconscious there?

I don't know why Taylor didn't say yes to continue. I imagine he was out of it a bit but at the same time may have not heard him or was just a little confused. Either way, his facial expression at the end of the fight tells it all. 10 seconds before being wobbled he was still staggering trying to walk Chavez down. He got up around 5-6 and just looked at Steele and Steele stopped it. It was a terrible stoppage. Taylor didn't answer immediately and Steel just makes a knee-jerk reaction.

The HBO live commentating tells it all.

I think like most reasonable, non-biased observers, I was shocked when Steele stopped the fight when watching it for the first time. Looking at it on replay though, I think Steele was justified to make the decision he did.

Did he make the right call? He made an acceptable call.

Meldrick Taylor fought the fight of his life that night, but he was in against a different breed of human being in Chavez. Despite all the punches he took Julio didnt have a mark on his face!

Do i feel Steele made the right call? No. Do i feel he should of stopped the fight if there had been 30 seconds left? Yes.

Maybe that doesnt make sense but Meldrick deserved the chance to fight another two seconds, the fact that a guy can come so close to everything he's ever dreamed of and then have it snatched away from him with so little time remaining is heartbreaking to me.

The guy took his beating for what? The fact is Meldrick Taylor is associated as being a nearly man who fell just short; he doesnt deserve that. Flip a coin, it all comes down to that red light flashing behind Meldricks head IMO.

Chavez should have been ahead on the score cards, I dont know what fight the judges were watching, but Chaves beat Taylor up though out MOST of the fight, you dont score points for the guy taking a beating.

Its sort of like Lewis beating Holyfiled, only to have the ref stop the fight in round 12(After a knockdown or so) than people complaining Holyfiled should fight on for his "Draw".

Steeler made the right call imo, and if not, Chavez would have been robbed.

I'm thinking you should rewatch the fight, Meldrick won just about all of the first 7 or 8 rounds.
