He is fighting the top fighters and whether they are close or not he is winning.
For someone to lack the confidence that you describe....it sure didn't show in his last fight of which he fought 9 rounds with one eye.
I believe Roach is a bit concerned on this one !!!!

you have to realize that pacman is a quiet dude. he dont talk too much not like every black fighter out there that they talk crap a lot/cocky talks to intimidate their opponents. that being said, roach is stepping out for pacman trying to intimidate their opponent. its all strategy.

....:huh What fight were you watching, of course he had a bad eye but, that doesn't change the fact he looked like lunch meat during several stretches of that fight.

The problem is that, if these guys exchange, Pacquiao will get knocked the **** out. And Roach knows this: before he started talking **** he revealed that his intentions were for Pacquiao to pop in and out and not confront Cotto for extended periods, hoping to get a decision. So riling Cotto up isn't really going to do them any favours.

That is why Cotto is sparring in a 24 x 24 size ring so he can cut Manny off....
Roach had the nerve to say he is " sorry to hear that Cotto is practicing in
a 24 x24 size ring ....dissappointing that he is going to be running and not stand and fight "

what a jerk.....just curious what his explanation to Manny will be on the 15th !!!

Its obvious Freddie is banking on having an enraged and unfocused Cotto in the ring. Hatton came in the fight guns blazing without true regard for the oppositions ability to counter his lunging wide open attacks, I don't even recall Hatton dipping low or setting up any of his attacks with a jab or feint. Cotto is the total opposite in which he will be patient study his attackers movements work behind a thudding jab while ultimately cutting off the ring. For all of pacmans glorious gifts as a fighter his inability to box off the back foot and adjust to a fighter who can take his attack and counter it will become his downfall. Its quite simple when actually think about it, this was evidenced in his fights against jmm, pac never implemented a new strategy which caused his first bout with jmm to become a draw after being thouroughly outboxed for the majority of the fight. The second bout showed improvement because of a new found element called a right hook aka manilla ice. Still after showing caution jmm was again able to show his was a class above in terms of boxing ability. If Cotto shows patience and weathers pac's storm he will slowly but surely break him down. Still this fight gives me major goose bumps.

I like and respect Freddie a lot BUT he is talking more **** than usual here. First he complains about the Cotto low blows (which are part of the sport), then he said that he does not want Cortez as a referre. Now he said Paquio will not need a referre cause he will ko Cotto. What is it going to be? Make up your mind!!! Here is my take. Paquio better dont get too cocky by trying to bring the fight to Cotto being overly aggresive BECAUSE he is the one that will get KO!!!! If he just think that he is going to dispose of Cotto like he did to Hatton he is in for a surprise. I would not be surprise if Cotto takes advantage of that and knock his ass out!!!! My prediction remains the same....Cotto by KO on round 9.:bbb

i think roach is wasting his time with all this trash talking because it's not going to affect cotto one bit. cotto is in the best shape of his life and he knows when he beats pacquiao he's going to be the man of the moment. cotto is too smart to get caught up in all this childish rubbish roach is spewing out and sadly, cotto is going to make pacquiao pay for roach's big mouth!

Roach maybe right we may not need the judges. If he continues stroke his fighters ego into believing he will walk over Cotto we won't need the judges as Manny will more than likely not finish the fight. Too many people seem to be drunk off of that Hatton KO. If Manny goes looking for a KO he may find one on the other sider of Cotto's glove.
