Sanders was actually good enough to win The Big Fight at least once, and beat a live quality opponent. Plus, his southpaw stance and quick straight left could be murderous against Cooney's lack of real defense.

I think this would be a repeat of Sanders' fight with Wlad.

Cooney bangs much harder, and has much better stamina. Cooney can bang out some quick combos, while Sanders shoots that left pretty nicely out of the southpaw stance. But personally, I think Sanders is far too limited and not strong enough to beat Cooney. Cooney blasts him around the 6th round.

    It's hard to say.

Sanders won a big fight against Wlad, a more meaningful win than Cooney's best wins. But on the other hand, Cooney never lost to any mediocre fighters, whereas Sanders did.

I think Cooney was more consistently aggressive and in better shape so I'll give him the nod.

Sanders is fast and could bang, but as ever if his opponent gets out the first 2-3 rounds or hurts him first he loses. I say Cooney by mid rounds KO

Cooney could walk right through Sanders. Sanders, whilst fairly fast and powerful, had a couple of good performances (like Cooney) but I believe the better chin belongs to Cooney. He also has a monsterous left hook, not a great punch against a southpaw, but Sanders was hardly elusive.

Good points. This is definitely a match that Sanders could win no doubt, but as you say, Cooney was just as dangerous in the early rounds, was typically better conditioned and never lost to a guy like Nate Tubbs.

Cooney the harder puncher, Sanders the speedier, sharper sharpshooter. It could come down to who can take it better. I lean ever so slightly to the side of sheer speed and accuracy...provided Sanders has on his Village People mustache.

Fleaman says that Cooney had a better chin than Sanders. He also claimed Cooney would walk right though him.

    I don't think so.

Nobody walks through Sanders, even Vitali never walked through Sanders, and Sanders hurt Vitali who has a WAY better chin than Cooney.

Vitali who is better than Cooney hit Sanders with everything in round 5 and 8 and never floored him.

It was stamina for Sanders. I mean come on, look at the Rahman fight, would you really say it was to do with his chin?

Plus he stood up to Vitali for 8 rounds before he was stopped on his feet and never went down once, he was 38 and been out for ages as a semi-pro golfer.

Would Sanders get dropped and stopped by Spinks?

Would Sanders get dropped in the 2nd round by Holmes?

Sanders showed a solid chin v Vitali, he showed more durability in that fight than Cooney showed in his entire career, surely you must agree.

Sanders beat Wlad, Cooney never beat a fighter of that caliber who was in their prime or close to it.

Cooney never KO'd a guy like Wlad or took punches and stood up to a fighter who hit as hard as Vitali, and i don't even really like Wlad or Vitali.

Cooney was shot, innactive and drug addicted against Spinks, you may as well bring up Sanders being ko'd in the first round in his come back fight a while ago against a journeyman. Would Cooned get sparked in 2 by journeyman Nate Tubbs like Sanders? See it can work both ways

Personally I see Cooney taking over after the first few rounds and taking Sanders out after.

BTW lots of weak chinned fighter show good chins against Vitali because Vitali isnt a massive puncher, Cooney was

I agree, Cooney was a massive puncher, but he never won a big fight or Ko'd a good fighter in their prime but Vitali has Ko'd better fighters than Cooney because the best fighters Vitali Ko'd were alive at the time the bouts took place. Yes i agree Sanders was Ko'd early by Tubbs, but at least he came back from that to later win a world title.

Lyle was shot, Shavers was shot and Norton was shot more than 50 cent and Game put together.

Sanders Ko'd Wlad and took punches from Vitali who hit harder than Holmes and Spinks who dropped and stopped Cooney.

I'd agree Sanders and Vitali has the better wins but I'd thought it was obvious watching Cooney his left hook was brutal, Vitali doesnt have such a brutal punch, Sanders is a big puncher not as big as Cooney imo though.

In fairness Cooney was pretty much retired by Holmes and I cant see Vitali/Sanders having much chance against the king of the jabs either

BTW stupendous ass on that chick, who is she?
