We all know the heavyweight division is pretty **** just now, you just need to see contenders like Chris Arreola come not even close to giving Vitali Klitschko a tought fight. It's abit too early to tell, but does anyone else think that the big Cruiserweights who have the strength for the HW divison show the most potential? Adamek and Haye have done well in their fights, and let's be honest, who doesn't belvie someone like Steve Cunningham wouldn't be able to outbox the likes of Chris Arreola, Hasim Rahman or Tony Thompson, all pretty weak competitors for the heavyweight title.
Cunningham could not compete with punchers in HW, but somebody like Chambers is in his range. Why not ?
It's just the hype surrounding Haye & Adamek because of their proven ability already to beat the best in the cruiserweight division at their respective times. And they are both very good fighters, but like you said, it's too early to really tell. Especially given Barrett & Golota were barely even top 30 contenders.
imo, Cunningham doesn't have the chin or the power to stand up at HW. some like Arreola would walk through him.
Cunningham was on the floor everytime Adamek waved his arms in his direction and is not a big cruiser at all, he was 5lbs inside the 200lb limit for his last fight and 7 or 8 lbs inside previously.
Top 30 contenders is irrelevant IMO People like Valuev, Holyfield, Ruiz, Golota,Oquendo could all beat each other on a given night
speaking of Cruisers moving up to HW has Mormeck fought yet at HW? **I see according to boxrec he fights Nov 20th vs Vinny Maddalone but despite being successful at 200. Bell, Cunningham and probably Mormeck as well are just too small to compete for any type of major title at HW by the way, what happened to Bell? he said he planned to move up to Heavyweight but hasn't fought since the loss to Ademek.
