I usually feel less than impressed, he just doesnt seem dynamic. Cotto hits the pads slowly and his movements are usually slow and at half speed. I see him flatfooted and slow plodding foward tapping the gloves or hitting the bag without any real flair.

compared to films of Duran and others skipping rope or hitting the bags Cotto always seems like he is is training halfheartedly. He always looks less than impressive compared to others Ive seen.

    You guys ever notice that?

I have mention this to my friends as well. It seems he doesn't do anything that pushes his body to its limits, which might help his endurance and things like that if he did. But then again you never know what goes behind doors. It is a fact Cotto was basically training himself the last few years, this was part of the problem in the Cotto camp. But then again, he surprises many fighters once in the ring, from his decent speed, to good southpaw stance, excellent jab, and other things many fighers were underestimating him.

Its for the cameras..it gives his opponents and their teams the impression that he is slow and plodding...which he is, sometimes, but he can turn the speed up when he wants to. Its deceiving.

if that is the case then i bet pac is an excellent swimmer but opted not to show otherwise so to give an impression that he is not training at a high level. :yep

I've always noticed the same thing, but assumed it had to be for the cameras. He's not slow in the ring. The combos he ripped on Margo before he got plastered were pretty impressive.

He is not explosive when he trains, he looks like Kevin Mcbride hitting the bag and with the ropes he looks very uninterested in what hes doing. He is no more that lion that he one was but again when he enter to the ring anything can happen.

for some reason cotto right now is like a shadow of this version...

he was fast on his combinations, explosive with his punches and very fast on his feet.

I really hope Pac thinks that Cotto is slow and plodding just like you guys think, but he knows that's not the case, its all for the cameras.

That's the training he does on camera. 24/7 only shows what the fighters let them show. It's not as if all Floyd does is his patty-cake routine with Roger to prepare for fights.

i agree that he doesn't go full speed on pads or bags but i dont think its to fool his opponents because his training videos on youtube from a couple of years ago are all the same.even when training for shane or anybody thats just how he trains. Now in those fights he didnt look like he was that slow but for some reason in the clottey fight he looked the way he trains.maybe his trainer just isnt pushing him but i really hope he doesnt look that way against pac
