So, at 27 and with thousands of hours of boxing training under a communist regime you think he is not at his prime yet???? Do you think he will be at his prime before his 40th birthday???

i don't think he's in his prime. i think he needs more seasoning as a professional. i think he will hit his prime over the next few years. boxer's prime is usually about 29-31.

 

he's barely fought anybody thats tested him since he's turned pro.. so yes.. he's not experienced enough yet.. he still makes errors that he will learn from when he faces better fighters..

As of right now I have to go with Hamed by knockout. Gamboa has shown himself susceptible to getting caught and put down, and it will only take one against Hamed. Even if Gamboa doesn't get put out before the distance, it is reasonable to believe he goes down more than one time in the fight, putting him desperately behind the eight ball in terms of winning a decision.

 

I am sorry, Gamboa would have beaten Hamed easily. Too much speed, power and amateur accomplishments for Hamed to handle. If Barrera defeated him then so Gamboa even at this young stage of his career! Don't assume that Gamboa will be another of Hamed's victims as Gamboa comes from the best boxing school in the World, the Cubans have never lost a match that I recall to anybody from the Middle East. Hamed would not land his power punch against the always moving Gamboa and if he does it will not be completely solid as he did to everyone else! Gamboa by mid rounds KO, :nono

Logically you have to say Hamed at this stage. They are similar in many ways so you have to go for the more proven fighter.

 

I was a big fan of Hamed as I am now of Gamboa and this fantasy matchup would indeed be an intriguing night of fireworks. I'd have to favor Gamboa mainly because Hamed leaves himself open far too often for a fighter with the speed and power of Gamboa not to capitalize on. It could go either way though.

 

You could say exactly the same thing in reverse. Gamboa leaves himself far too open for a fighter with the speed of Hamed not to capitalize on. Only Hamed had concussive one punch power and a proven chin, I wouldn't say Gamboa has either.

 

Gamboa's got respectable power and has put several opponents on the floor with one punch. You are correct though in that he leaves himself open and Hamed possessed the type of pop to make him pay for his mistakes.
