some people are acting as if the 2nd round didn't happen...

How stupid is this post. Welcome to boxing. People get knocked down. Who got knocked OUT? That's all that matters. All that the 2nd round did was make the fight exciting and prove Pavlik just took the best shots from the 2 hardest punching middleweights and won both fights.

 

It also proved that Taylor is a poor finisher.

A lot of ppl thought the fight was over in 2nd but Pavlik is sooo tough...I think it was one of the best fights Jermain ever fought. He did his best and he lost to a punching bag that hit back harder. Obviously to beat Pavlik u need a lot of power...speed is not enough...

 

Oh yeah as soon as that knockdown sequence was happening all I could think about was the idiots on here proclaiming Pavlik to be an overrated bum who got too much hype because of his demolition of Miranda. But then miraculously, he got out of the round and went on to win.

 

I not denying that the 2nd didn't happen, but after the 7th round it no longer mattered.

 

I was rooting for Taylor before fight happened, but when Pavlik entered the ring with Korn song, I became neutral:yep I paniced when I saw Pavlik taking those sick shots. But in the end I prayed that Taylor takes a god damn knee and recoveres from those two sick right hands, I was like " cmon man smoger is looking at you, go down for 8 count" but he never did. Great fight.:good

yeah so what? i admit i was shocked. but shocked because i could not believe taylor punched that hard, or that pavlik had a bad chin. at the time i thought pavlik simply had a god awful chin but in replay taylor threw his whole body into those punches.

the moment pavlik got to his feet and started to tie taylor up, i could see his amazing recovery ability in effect and more, his maturity. he didn't panic which is impressive.

once he was standing for a good 30 seconds i knew he would only get stronger again. and more importantly taylor's mental resovle would evaporate...

why? cause taylor always said he was in it for the money. that to me says "take the most money for least ressistance". now while he fought HOF fighters. they weren't exactly the power punching type. so he was safe in that he could make money while never risking his health.

THAT is why i knew he was nervous against pavlik. might not have been a name. but boy, when you have a fighter in front of ya who loves getting in the trenches, and has great power to boot AND stamina. you know your night is not going to be a neat and tidy affair :deal

i was confident in a pavlik ko in the 3rd round when pavlik put the pressure on again despite the awful round prior.

taylor simply cannot go to the trenches. he tried. oh how he tried. but he simply isn't built for it.

anyway. you can try and find some comfort from your wrong prediction by putting up threads like these, but the question can easily apply to you too, when taylor got buzzed on a couple occassions. :hey

 

i thought it was over. i just sat there shaking my head. but i quickly realized that Taylor was having trouble finishing. give Kelly credit not only for being tough as ****, but being smart, he clinched for dear life until he got his head and legs back, that is what saved him.
