Why are people so bothered about how his victims fare in upcoming fights?

His legacy is intact and nothing will increase nor decrease that fact.

    Lets look at the numbers.

He was a champion for 10 years.
He won every belt in the SMW division
He is a two weight ring champion (meaning he beat the best fighter in two seperate weight divisions)
    His final record was 46-0
He beat 10 current, past or future champions
    He cleaned up domestically
    He threw loads of punches
He always got back up after being knocked down
    He fought dangerous mandatories
Had success on both sides of the pond.

Regardless of whether kessler wins super 6, roy jones k.o's hopkins or lacy becomes undisputed heavyweight champion, it will not affect this ATG's legacy.

People need to accept this great boxer is retired.

He will go down as the greatest ever SMW, sure its a shame he didnt fight prime toney or prime jones, but every fighter has a couple of people missing on their resume.

At the end of the day, Calzaghe didn't fulfill his potential. There remain a lot of IF's when talking about his career. There's no question the man was talented, he had some great performances, but all in all his resume isn't great - when it could have been great. That's why I consider him a fringe ATG, a HOFer no doubt, but behind guys like RJJ, Hopins and Toney - all guys who had losses at some point in their careers. I also know that Calzaghe holds wins over a faded RJJ and a close one over Hopkins (in a fight that could've gone either way). Calzaghes best opponent (and win) remains a prime Kessler. I think that Calzaghe could've cemented his ATG status if he faced and clearly beat Hopkins in a rematch or beat a Chad Dawson instead of have retired.

THE FIRST ACTUAL BELTHOLDER THAT Joe beat was Jeff Lacy LOL

Joes wbo dominance was a complete joke it was not even considered a major title back then

ATG for sure, nothing can take that away. IMO, fans knows what Hopkins, Lacy and Jones bring to the table. Nobody really knows what Kessler did. Who did Kessler beat prior to fighting Cal? A win in the super 6 will deffenently bring Cal's stocks up. I really don't think Cal's stocks will drop unless Kessler gets beats in all of his fight which is super unlikly.

Unfortunately Calzaghe didn't beat more primed fighters, but I still believe he's the real deal in terms of his ability.

Calzaghe is a Bum. He fought OUR best of the best at the end of their run in boxing. Just like Larry Holmes vs Ali. What he did to Ali wouldnt have happened 5 yrs earlier in his prime. Same wit calzaghe vs roy and B-hop. He would have got his bell rang. ROck the Bells.
