So let me get this straight, you bashing Goosen for at first not wanting a rematch clause if Pavlik lose to Williams ( that fight wouldn't be on short notice btw) but when Goosen wants a rematch clause to any fighters that face Williams on a 4 OR 3 WEEKS SHORT NOTICE, you bashing Goosen for that?

Look at it this way. Cotto has a big ethnic following - much bigger than Pavlik. Clottey has a decent ethnic following - probably bigger than Williams. HBO were willing to pay near $4m for a Pavlik vs. Williams fight at 160. Now, Williams was getting close to $2m for that fight, despite being the lesser draw. Cotto/Clottey would have been a pretty cash-rich fight; I'm guessing a good few million was put up for that by HBO. Clottey probably took home close to or over a million.

So this is far from a career-high pay-day.

i went to cotto vs clottey and there was about 80 ghana-ns packed into one little section going against like 30,000 crazed cotto fans.... in new york where is a decent sized ghana-n population.....

clottey dont got any damn "ethnic" followers.. cut that out

When has PWill drawn more than about 2,000 people on his own to a card?
Goosen has been reduced to sticking Arreola as the main undercard support and sticking the fight in L.A. to draw any sizeable # of fans at all

I was at his rematch with Quintana and that place was packed and sold out (Mohegan Sun in CT)...so maybe you should research a bit before posting something like this...

African boxers have a small but dedicated and not insignificant fanbase. Obviously, it's not like a Mexican/Puerto Rican/Filipino fanbase, but it's certainly on a par with that of Williams. The bottom line is that Clottey isn't a bum, and he would have got a much bigger payday than $500k against Cotto.

nah man.. it is insignificant... i witnissed it first hand man

there was literally less than 100 ghana fans at clottey vs cotto... the only sport africans care about is soccer.... like lets be honest here

    edit:

we don't even ahve to agree but lets be honest.... let the truth speak..... i mean cmon.... pavlik & williams were fighting over like 4 million to split amongst both of them.... you trying to tell me that clottey is in that echelon? not only that but like..... how much you think williams is getting.... it definitely aint more than 1.5 or some **** like that... which is like a 35-65 split... which is more or less correct

Money has nothing to do with a rematch clause. Goosen now demands the very thing he threw a fit over during the Pavlik negotiations. That's called hypocrisy.

don't even respond to boo... he just trying to stir up ****....

cause YOU AND I BOTH KNOW that if it was pavlik left with less than 40 days to prepare for a B level opponent he wouldnt be whining about any rematch clause... he would embrace the idea
