Pavlik MUST leave Youngstown for his own good, Ulli Wegner & Germany would be nice!

Wasn't Pavlik recently quoted giving examples of train wrecks when fighters tries switching coaches late in their carreers? Like Hatton?

I think Pavlik may have a bad taste in his mouth regarding Stewart who pursued him while JT was still recovering in the corner. An exgageration, but not by much....

No indication Jack and Kelly are splitting ways. I don't have a link to the article, but Kelly has talked about some of the intangibles that would be lost. They build up a whole language in a few words that is needed in the corner and in the ring.

or about how steward essentially laughed at the idea of fighting kelly prior to the jt fight and obviously had no idea what he was dealing w/ b/c jermain was ill prepared to fight him. pav could barely miss jt w/ that right all night.

how bout we wait until a mw actually goes the distance w/ pav before we throw jack under the bus. pav lost to the best lhw in world who also happens to be an atg hof'er. what jack and kelly have done at middle weight seems to have worked. no mw has ever gone the distance w/ kelly.

I agree with this thread. I like Kelly and think a change of scenary would do wonders for him. Just too many things going wrong for him he needs a fresh start. He was on a road to superstardom and it was derailed IMO by bad management and outside influences.

Overall I agree, though I think Loew put Pavlik in for that fight horribly under-prepared both tactically and physically. In the run-up to the fight, all he really said about how he thought the fight would go was that KP would just beat him "like we beat Taylor, like we beat Miranda". There's no way that you can take on Hopkins without giving him unique respect. And when things went wrong, all he said was "double the jab" and "throw more punches".

Kelly entered injured causing him to be undertrained and full of anti-biotics. Kelly's work ethic made him go forward with the fight. You can't lay that on Jack. NOTHING, and I eanNOTHING, Jack could say or do that night would have made any difference.

an over rated bum beat the guy who beat bhop twice :think

and before you say those were "gift decisions..." understand that guys who "arent that great" don't give bhop that good of a fight, twice.

Excuse me, but Jack Leow, Mike Pavlik Sr, and Miguel Diaz all tried to get Pav to post pone the Hopkins fight when he injured his elbow, and tried even harder when he came down with bronchitis. The poor performance is on Kelly, and no one else!
