How many of of you who are picking Valuev to win have actually seen him fight in the past few years? Fact: the man hasn't had a knockout in over 3 years. And that one was over fringe contender Monte Barrent. So, while I might not think much of Haye, I know for a fact that Valuev can't punch. The only chance he has of a kayo is if Haye gasses out. That doesn't mean he can't win. Haye has zero experiece fighting men that are bigger then him, so he might just get lost. But Valuev is not a puncher.

I'm with the OP. I think Valuev (even though his resumé isn't THAT great for having 52 fights) has too much experience at heavyweight for Haye. Haye (even though he KOd Barrett) got knocked down in the same fight far too easily for my liking. I think Haye will start out erratic, moving about like a crazy person and try to go for the early finish and get caught by the big man. I am from England, but if I am totally honest, I think Haye will lose and I WANT him to lose. If he does happen to win and brings some excitement back to the heavyweight division, I think I have it in my heart to forgive him. As for Pacquiao/Cotto. I am leaning towards Cotto, due to his size. I am not a Pac-hater, but I honestly do think DLH was past it and Hatton just likes to block punches with his face. Cotto has a decent defense, good offence and loves wars and I think it will be a stoppage, or perhaps Roach calls it quits when he notices the damage.

I always enjoy reading your posts scurlaruntings, you obviously love your boxing and you know your stuff but you are way out on this one mate.Haye is not the same fighter who fought Thompson all those years ago he has grown up and moved on since then.

If you are proved right on this one you will get all the props you deserve but if Haye wins this then I hope you give him props for doing what you think is not possible.

I'm with you but I'm not gonna lie the Cotto-Pac fight might be really close. I think it just depends on how well Pac handles Cotto's power b/c Cotto will be his toughest opponent thus far.

Nice Thread and pretty good assumptions in most of the posts:happy:happy:happy

    My 2 cents worth:
    Cotto stops Pacman
Haye wins on points but has a rough night going to the canvas a number of times mainly due to tripping while back pedalling & being mauled by the grizzly:smoke

I am going for Haye. I think he has the power to hurt Val. He also has this massive overhand right which i think Val will have trouble with. Haye is very quick and i think his speed will win the fight.

Jury is still out on Pac man Cotto. Its too close to call. All i will say is that watching 24/7Pac man looks tiny compared to Cotto. If Pac man cant hurt Cotto early on then he will at some point walk into a shot which does serious damage.

All im pointing out is HOW fragile Haye is. He's not in the Herbie Hide club but he's not far off. Now granted his KO loss to Thompson was indeed a blip as he blew his load inthe first round gunning for the KO vs the Cat. Bad bad move considering the type of fighter Thompson was. BUT this doesnt take away from the fact that Haye is hardly even a solid let alone big heavy. Haye is athletic has great power in either fist but he's a front runner. He hates doing roadwork treats boxing like some glee club and just doesnt take it too seriously for my liking.

Haye wont be a stayer in this sport and he's said so himself before. Against a giant like Valuev he really has his work cut out. He struggled some what with Monte and Monte is far from his best and also a small heavy in the 220 range. Valuev is 7ft and 330lbs. Unless Haye suddenly turns into Ali and can go the full 12 without gassing anymore than im not a believer in the slightest. Haye may go down fighting but this fight will be over in side of 5 rounds. As horrible as Valuev is he is VERY consistent. Haye will need to put in a Holyfield type performance (and even he wasnt awarded the decision!!!) to win by staying on his toes and using his speed and rythm to keep the giant befuddled. Based on Hayes previous performances i dont see that happening as Haye is a puncher first.

And dont get it twisted im a big Haye fan. Iv been watching him since the Am's. Id love to see him put Valuev in the same club as John Ruiz. But im also a realist.
