Yawn, those aren't even the best fighters in the division. It's just a lame ass attempt to do what Showtime did with the supermiddles.

 

How can it credibly proclaim a champion at 140 without T-Brad blessing it with his presence?

 

Not much of a tournament, 2 LWW fights then the winners to face each other. Good idea, BUT!

LWW is the division with the best chance of a Super Six type of thing happening, lot of youngsters ready for challenges without insane demands, therefore HBO should come up with a bigger thing. The division is much deeper, there's Urango, the Bradley-Peterson winner, the Diaz-Malignaggi winner, Holt and Mike Alvarado for example.

So, if not a very long round-robin tournament, it'd still make sense to make an 8-man straight elimination, that's only 3 rounds, but the losers could face each others on the undercards, so all shows would be action-packed yet affordable. Let's have an example:

QF, 1st show: Khan-Maidana, Bradley-Malignaggi
QF, 2nd show: Alexander-Ortiz, Urango-Alvarado
SF, 1st show: Maidana-Bradley, undercard: Khan-Alexander
SF, 2nd show: Ortiz-Urango, undercard: Alvarado-Malignaggi
or a single SF show with Maidana-Bradley, Ortiz-Urango and let's say Khan-Alexander
F: Maidana-Ortiz, undercard: Bradley-Alexander, Khan-Urango

With 1 SF show it would be 4 shows altogether with everyone having 3 fights, that could easily happen in 12 months.

They should do a 8 man knock out tornament with Khan, Maidana, Hatton, Ortiz, malignaggi, Alexander, Bradley and either holt, katsidis or marquez if he would be interested

 

If Hatton comes back at all it certainly wouldn't be for a possible further 3 fights against dangerous opposition.

 

i dunno, the guy likes money and if enough is shown to him i think hed take it especially if it featured guys who hed fancy himself against (whether thats delusional or not) and i thin k hatton would fancy himself against most of these guys

im inclined to lean more towards the system, that the super 6 presents.

that would mean, that there is room for 4 more established fighters and 2 prospects.

this tournament simply put, needs 2 more of the name fighters at 140, and one of those has to be bradley.

but nonetheless, its a step in the right direction for boxing.

 

I think this is very good. Once again like the Super-6 people will complain about how it could be better, but in the end we're getting more top fighters to face each other. And all these guys are young and have great potential. The guy who wins it will be in a great position, and with 3 titles, and can go onto super fights.

I'd say not all of them need to be big long tournaments, it's a good idea to try this 4 man format again, see how it goes.

 

Funky tournament, if u can call it like that .... not bad, but u need more than 4 fighters to get a tourney... I guess we'll watch... they can do better though!

Yes, and I'm sure that he'd be more than happy to head to the US to face Bradley or some other lighter hitter in order to make a name. But there's NO CHANCE he'll enter into a tournament that has two of the three hardest hitters in the weight class in it. Getting KTFO doesn't help you build up a name anywhere, and while he might get by one of them, one of Ortiz or Maidana would knock him out.

 

This is a great idea in my opinion. I like the Super Six Tourney, but it's too long. The longer the tourney, the more that can go wrong. We've already gotten a glimpse of that with Taylor. That tourney may also feature a pointless match, being that two 0-2 guys could be facing off against eachother. 4 man tourneys are the way to go for me. Allegedly, reps from all the fighters proposed have been contacted and are willing an eager to participate. I would've loved for Bradley to be involved, but his Showtime affiliation makes his inclusion impossible at this time. It's also weird to see Ortiz in the tourney considering he was beat down and quit in his last fight. Overall, it's still a good idea.

 

Possibly. Roach just wants to be sure because he doesn't want Khan dealing with the psychological impact of another KO. If he keeps winning, I think they should try and make a fight with Bradley if they don't want to fight bigger punchers like Maidana and Ortiz.
