My Haye vs Valuev preview

Only just got this weeks Boxing News cos of the post strikes. Interesting letter in it where someone reckons that Haye has pulled a master stroke by making Valuev out to be much better than he is. Got me thinking to be honest that when the fight was announced I didnt think Haye would have much trouble. It's only over the last few weeks I've started to think that this might end up close.

Really, a 76 year old Holyfield was robbed. Valuev laboured to a points win over Ruiz. Who else is on his record? His size gives him obvious advantages but are we being sold a kipper here?

If Haye romps to an easy points win, what do we learn (other than Haye has stamina)?

I'm not saying I necessarily agree with that at the moment, but it's an interesting point.

 

Valuev has been made out to be a monster both on here and by Sky that he just isn't. Haye is very good when it comes to promoting a fight - remember when he had people worrying about his fight against Barrett?

 

Yeah, agree with all of that.

Ruiz can make people look ****, and there is the excuse (of sorts) that Valuev was taking it easy on Holyfield - which I find hard to believe, personally.

I don't think there is any way Haye would have chosen this fight had he been in any doubt as to the outcome. I know he is (outwardly at least) a pretty arrogant and ego-driven dude, but to sign away options to take this one......

Not really, unless you were certain. I don't question for one minute his desire to take on a Klitschko, but hand on heart I don't think he really fancied the terms that were on offer and conveniently backed out.

I'm torn on this and like many don't kow if I'm being played like a 3 string banjo or whether either Haye or Valuev are as good as respective people tell me they are.

An interesting read,and the comparisons are there,how many times have we heard that styles make fights and the Willard fight is close enough to make strong comparisons,if you look past the hype in boxing there are many fights in history that are excellent yardsticks for whats ahead.

I think Haye can do it and in some style,and the Demspey blueprint is as good as any out there.

Nice. Ignore anyone criticising your English and grammar, I work in publishing and plenty of award winning writers and editors would have made FAR more mistakes in their drafts. Writing isn't about that anyway - it's about putting across your viewpoint in a clear and interesting way and letting your enthusiasm shine through.

Hope you're right about the outcome. It's an obvious comparison, let's hope it plays out the same way !

 

Valouev is much bigger than Willard and a much better boxer.

 

It is arguably the hardest part. But unless you've got some unique perspective going on, 1000 words is about most people level of attention for web stuff.

There are exceptions, I'll happily ready double that of Hauser murdering HBO or a proper interview with an all-time great. I used to waffle, some might say I still do, but you have to try and thin the volume out to make it more precise, economic and readable.
