can someone tell me if this is true alex leapai drops nathion briggs 8 times in one fight and ref asks eachtime if he is ok;? in a fight worth nothing same ref for homono and kirby and ref dosent even give an 8 stand count not once on kirby who didnt get dropped and calls fight of and every ref no,s that mik has the hardest chin in auss and at least deserves a standing 8 count on what was an opbf tittle fight wich makes it more bizzare and people say that refs arent paid good money to make a funny desicion bull**** they are as corrupt as every other wanna be and anyone trying to give a response on this to justify things is fu.....d iver ref didnt like leapi or he loved homo wich one
you gotta wonder....but i dont think there is that much $ in oz boxing.....but the ref may want to get a start on the next 'promotion'....of the one that pays more...or theone that has 'benefits'.......which is what you are saying i guess.....i bet no one will admit it. they will all scream..lol :deal .
I havnt seen the Leapi/Briggs fight but Kirby was taking massive punishment at the time of the stoppage. Nathan Briggs is pretty chinny so i can see how the fight would be allowed to continue.
Don't remember too many people disagreeing with the stoppage when it happened, I certainly had no argument with it.
It looked like Kirby had just about taken as much as he could, I cant argue with that stoppage. Someone like Kirby might never get dropped, but that doesnt mean he is never badly hurt. Someone like Briggsy might get dropped a whole lot ( in fact he has) but that doesnt mean he is hurt everytime he is knocked down. A ref has the tough job of making sure neither of these guys gets hurt in the ring, most decent ones base their decisions on that.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klInSf5JugU[/ame] Briggs V Leapai was for the OPBF Title? So being worth nothing is a strange comment. Nathan although dropped was never hurt until late. I sat ringside at both fights and can't fault the ref on either occasion. Iron Rhino is a guy I have total respect for but he was hurt and i am glad the ref stopped it when he did so he can come back and fight another day.
i agree mik was tierd but gone is another issue no he wasnt going to win the fight thats true but when can you punch down on the back of someones head and not be warned by ref and hang on to rope while doing it? withch hommono did when going for the kill and when donsent a fighter get a stand8 count just to make sure that the fighter is gone and for the record how does someone say that a bloke gets dropped 8 times because he can take it what drugs are you on 3 times would be enough what cause someone drives a mecedez means that they can take a accident head on with a mac truck better then a commordore really think about some of the dumb comments youse are making
so when did i say that kegsy? dont go putting things into peoples mind when it aint true and dont you missinterpret what i said im calling it as it is bull**** 8 fuc...n times a fighter gets droped what 7 wasnt enough? and on the other hand a bloke takes it dosent go down and isnt given a standing 8? so if he was that bad why didnt the ref step in earlier to give a count on him,
I never said that Briggsy could take it better Cabana, But everytime he got up it must have been obvious to the ref that he was not seriously hurt. Mate if you think that Kirby was capable of fighting on you must be kidding.
there is no standing 8 counts under opbf rules. If a fighter is taking punishment and no longer firing back, he gives the ref no option but to stop the fight
The OPBF has got it right. The standing 8 count is a ****en joke & should be turfed. It just stops a winning fighter from finishing the job, & in many cases, just gives the loser enough time to partially recover enough to take more punishment.
If you watch the fight? Which I can only assume you havent? Briggsy is winning most rounds and when knocked down gets back up and turns the fight back in his favour... Each fight is a unique entity. To say ok 3 times is enough or whatever is completely taking away the referee's ability to judge whether someone can continue or not...
