Would De La Hoya have stood up to Pac's final left hand on Hatton?

Im not saying what I think man...There is a nerve located in your jaw that if hit right, can cause your brain to shake and rattle against your skull thus knocking you out...

For an example of how easy it is to knock someone out (if you catch this nerve) see MMA FIGHT SILVA-GRIFFInN....Silva doesn't hit Griffin that hard but he hits him right on the nerve while Griffin is rushing in...Griffin is out but he still has the ability to raise his arms up in the air...the average guy at 180 might not finish him but someone as small as JMM that knows how to throw a punch can knock him pretty easy if he is never expecting it...

 

I agree with many of the posters here. DLH wouldn't have been caught like that. ****, DLH hit the canvas several times, esp. early on, but never took a shot like that. I think that shot was perfect but was matched by the amount of force Ricky threw into it with his whole body weight. Couple the punch with Ricky's full body weight and you have that sensational ko. Now, had DLH done that, prime or not, he would be out cold too, but DLH wasn't ******ed.

I dont think MP, in the ODLH fight, could have sat on his punches exactly like when he fought Hatton.

ODLH was bigger and had the more intimidating rep, and Team Pac really just wanted to hit and move that fight, pile up points and slowly chip away at Oscar's punch resistance, and not go for the home run KO punch and be more exposed to counters.

 

:thumbsup I agree you are right,and i am a firm believer that a 135-140lb Marquez could knockout Silva or Griffin before they put there take down moves on him. I give these guys there props for there ground fighting,but you can master that in a few years,the High school wrestlers just need a refreshment course. Boxing takes many years to get to the elite level,and im sure every fan on ESB knows this.

Hatton has stated that he walked out to the fight knowing that he had left a lot in the gym because he had overtrained so wanted to get Pac out quickly, hence why he was a bit careless and allowed for the shot to even happen in the first place.

 

He had to overtrain to make the weight.

With his move to Floyd sr he left his nutritionist and conditioner behind...... against Paulie it didn't really matter, but compare his appearance on the scales for the Pac fight to that of the Castillo fight - he looks half dead.

He would most likely have been KTFO anyway, however.

 

Bull**** - that punch would have put almost anyone on their arse. Whether it would have knocked them out cold is something else.. That punch was terrifying..

 

Oscar just needs to shut up. he was recently quoted as saying MP doesn't have that much power. Well his face told me other wise.

MP shut him down, use all the excuses you want, it is up to the men in the ring to prepare themselves for the fight, if they don't a good job of it, then to bad. If you choose a fight to far below your weight class and are drained come fight night, to bad. should have thought about that before hand.

Not being ready in body or mind is not excuse as to why you sat on your stool in between rounds shaking your head. he lost, and Pac was on his way to introducing Oscar to the canvas.

 

Pacquiao was landing constantly on de la hoya all night, and not once did he go down, so no he wouldn't have gone down from that shot.

 

really?!?! Oscar would have most def tasted canvas if he got up to fight that 9th round.

 

I didn't say that I agreed with Cotto though, I just used it as an example that even other boxers think it was a pretty tremendous shot.

Personally I think OLDH would have been floored if he had been caught with a shot like that coming in and not seeing it coming. Not sure if he would be out cold but he would definitely go down. The difference though was Oscar was on survival mode that night, leaning away from Pacquiao and trying to get away from Pac, so he didn't get caught the way Hatton did who was just rushing in the whole time with his chin exposed.
