I can see Haye's picking one of three strategy's 1. For the first 3 or so rounds he virtually exclusively attacks the body hopeing to get the big guy crouching. Then he loads up with hooks and uppercuts to get the guy outta there. 2. From the moment the bell goes Haye rushes Valuev jumping all over him with Hooks to both body and head from the get go. Not getting any overtime he wants to get the big guy otta there as quick as he can. 3. In and out peek a boo style for twelve round points decision. 3 is the safest option but knowing David I think the most unlikely. 2 is the most risky but again knowing David it wouldn't supprise me. 1 is my pick. It's a halfway house of safety and aggression. I see this as his best shot. any of the first 2 and we're in for a real treat. >:goodENJOY THE FIGHT EVERYONE ON ESB AND I LOOK FORWARD TO DISECTING THE FIGHT ON HERE AFTERWARDS<
In his past fights he always seems to hook to the body. But I suppose to keep the distance he may throw more straight ones. Do you think it will work?
I wonder what valuevs tactics will be, he has or so ive read lost a lot of weight to make him a bit faster (but obviously hes so big it will not be much more haha), i wonder if he just hopes he can smother hayes bombs with his arms and size, tire the man out, and then hopefully for him either get a points win or knock him over and possably out, what happens if haye cant KO him ?, hes had dodgy stamina in the past or it seems he has, and will if he tires have a 7ft2 300ib man pushing and pulling him around, we know val can do the full route but can haye ?
No doubt he will step off and bang to the body as well. He needs to mix it up, make sure he's fast and accurate and keep some in the tank for the last few rounds
It's true that once you know someone can't hurt you, you can walk right through them. Valuev's a big guy to have walking through you like an express train.
I think some (not all) of Haye's stamina problems were due to making the weight. I would be supprised if Haye were to win a 12 round decision unless he floors Valuev a couple of times. To add to this I can't see Haye letting him off the hook if he does floor him. His head has a long way to fall if he does catch him. That alone could KO him.
Haye's a total gym rat, he does lots of preparation and I don't think he'll struggle to do 12 rounds against someone as slow-paced as Valuev. He might flag a bit in the last 2 rounds, but I think a lot of his stamina worries have been down to him having to make 200lbs, so at Heavyweight I expect he will be able to do 12.
I reckon Haye will stick and move for a few rounds to test Valuev's mobility and adversaty ---- then decide on how best to try to tame the beast.....:smoke
I wish this were true, but I thought he looked a bit tired against Barrett inbetween rounds towards the end. I'm just not sure about his stamina yet...though he looked ok against Bonin, which was a high paced fight.
Haye is not a game plan type of guy. He's going to swing away, if his chin and stamina hold up, he wins.
I can see your aguement though Booth does always seem to have a plan for him. David sticking to it is another matter!
